James Outman Goes Yard On Thursday
James Outman hit his second long ball of the season on Thursday night in the sixth inning off Mitch Spence to extend the Dodgers' lead to 16-2. During an evening in which the Dodgers' offense exploded and hit five home runs, Outman joined the party later in the game and finished his evening going 2-for-4 with three runs scored, one RBI, and one walk. Outman has cracked the Dodgers' lineup due to injuries to Teoscar Hernandez and Tommy Edman, and thus far through eight games has a .143/.250/.429 slash line with two home runs, five runs scored, and four RBI. Fantasy managers can lean on Outman as a fill-in for injuries or a streamer if he has a hot bat, but he would not be a recommended play for the long haul. Next up for Outman and the Dodgers is a three-game series against the Los Angeles Angels.Source: ESPN

Kale Fountain Swipes Four Bags On Thursday
Source: MiLB.com
San Diego Padres third base prospect Kale Fountain continued his strong start to his professional career on Thursday. Facing the Guardians' ACL affiliate, Fountain not only swiped his first professional bag but also stole four during the contest. This was only his second game of the season, not tallying a hit. However, he was still able to make a significant impact. Through his first eight games of Rookie ball, Fountain has posted an impressive .292/.400/.375 slash line with two doubles, five RBI, and a 7:3 K:BB. The Padres drafted the 19-year-old out of Norris HS in the fifth round of last year's MLB Draft. If he continues to perform well in the ACL, he should be in the mix to join Low-A in the coming weeks.Henry Bolte Posts Third- Straight Multi-Hit Game
Henry Bolte went 3-for-3 with a triple and a home run. He also drew two walks. This was his third-straight contest tallying at least two hits in a single game. During this stretch, he has tallied six RBI, hit two triples, and swiped a bag. Overall, the No. 8-ranked prospect in the A's system has looked quite comfortable during his second taste of Double-A. Last summer, Bolte made his Double-A debut and held a modest .252/.332/.396 line with 13 doubles and four home runs across 54 games. However, Bolte has taken a significant step forward over his first 36 games of the 2025 season, posting a stellar .328/.419/.527 line with five doubles and five long balls. Given his steady progression, Bolte will likely get the call to Triple-A in the coming months.Source: MiLB.com
Athletics outfield prospect Ian Mejia Sharp Again On Thursday
Ian Mejia continued his incredible scoreless streak on Thursday against Double-A Knoxville. In this outing, Mejia logged seven shutout innings. He allowed just three hits and held a 5:2 K:BB. Since allowing four runs over his first six innings of work (two starts), the No. 23-ranked prospect in the Braves system has logged 30 2/3 straight scoreless innings. During this stretch, Mejia has struck out 24 batters and allowed 20 hits and 10 free passes. Last summer, Mejia spent most of the 2024 campaign with Double-A but held a high 3.47 ERA with a 1.32 WHIP. If Mejia continues to perform well, he should contend for an early-season promotion to Triple-A Gwinnett.Source: MiLB.com
Atlanta Braves right-handed pitching prospect Cristian Mena Strikes Out Seven On Thursday
Cristian Mena turned in his best start of the Triple-A campaign on Thursday against Sugar Land. The right-hander logged five 1/3 innings of work and did not allow a run. He served up just two hits and one walk. He struck out seven batters. This was a strong bounce-back outing for Mena as he posted a high 8.53 ERA with a 1.74 WHIP over his last 19 innings (four starts). During this stretch, the No. 13-ranked prospect in the Arizona system held a 24:8 K:BB and allowed five long balls. Mena was given a brief taste of the majors this season and logged three 2/3 shutout innings. If Mena continues to find his footing at Reno, he should be in the mix to have a more extended stint in the majors.Source: MiLB.com
Arizona Diamondbacks right-handed pitching prospect Justin Crawford Goes Deep, Swipes A Bag On Thursday
Justin Crawford went 2-for-5 with a home run and a stolen base during Thursday's contest against Triple-A Syracuse. This was Crawford's first long ball of the Triple-A regular season. This outing also extended his current hitting streak to three games. During this stretch, he has tallied at least one extra-base hit in each contest. Through 36 games this season, Crawford has been swinging a hot bat at Triple-A, holding a stellar .316/.379/.428 slash line with 10 doubles and two triples. Crawford has swiped 13 bags and held a 35:16 K:BB. The former 17th overall pick should be in the mix to make his MLB debut in the coming weeks given his impressive start to the season.Source: MiLB.com
Philadelphia Phillies outfield prospect Rosman Verdugo Snaps Skid At High-A
Rosman Verdugo went 3-for-3 with four runs, a double, two home runs, and three RBI during their contest against High-A West Michigan on Thursday. Entering this contest, Verdugo went 0-for-11 with a 3:2 K:BB over his last three contests. However, prior to this small slump, the No. 24-ranked prospect in the San Diego system was carrying a stellar .326/.356/.581 line with five doubles, two home runs, and 10 RBI over his last 10 contests. Through 33 total games at the High-A level this season, Verdugo has posted a modest .246/.322/.540 slash line. However, it appears the infielder is beginning to turn the corner on his slow start. If Verdugo continues to find his footing at High-A, he should be in the mix to join Double-A in the coming months.Source: MiLB.com
San Diego Padres infield prospect Colby Thomas Blasts Two-Run Homer On Thursday
Athletics outfield prospect Colby Thomas went 1-for-4 with a two-run homer against Triple-A El Paso on Thursday. The 24-year-old crushed a 429-foot home run to bring his season slash line to a scorching .313/.376/.577. Thomas now ranks second in all the minor leagues with six home runs in May. The former Mercer product's quality of contact metrics also looks strong, with an 11% Barrel% and flashing a 115.9 MPH MaxEV. For perspective, that mark would rank just outside the top 10 for the highest in MLB. Thomas should be expected to be promoted sometime in the early summer, and his upside makes him worthy of picking up. He is currently ranked as the No. 2 prospect in the Athletics system on MLB.com.Source: MiLB.com
Hyeseong Kim Gets On Base Five Times, Scores Four Runs
Hyeseong Kim was all over the score sheet on Thursday, helping dismantle the Athletics in a 19-2 win. Kim had a fantastic all-around day, going 3-for-3 with a double, two walks, four runs scored, two RBI, and a stolen base. The 26-year-old has continued hitting the ball well after starting the season hot in the minors, slashing .429/.467/.571 with a homer and three steals in 28 at-bats. Although it is unlikely that Kim will continue to hit at this level, he might be able to sustain a decent batting average and steal a good amount of bases, which certainly has its value. He is also hitting in a loaded Dodgers lineup, which should help his counting stats. Don't expect anything crazy, but grabbing Kim in deeper leagues isn't the worst idea if average and speed are big needs.Source: MLB.com
Los Angeles Dodgers second baseman Shohei Ohtani Smashes Two Homers, Drives In Six
Shohei Ohtani had another huge day at the plate on Thursday, going 2-for-5 with a pair of homers and six RBI in a 19-2 demolition of the Athletics. Ohtani hit a three-run blast in the third and a two-run shot in the fourth, helping to put this game out of reach early. He has been scorching hot at the dish in May, going 19-for-53 with eight homers and 18 RBI. So much for the early-season "slump" he had. Ohtani is now up to a .310 AVG, 48 runs, 15 homers, 28 RBI, and 10 steals on the season. The 15 homers tie him with Aaron Judge and Kyle Schwarber for the league lead. He is well on his way to a fourth MVP.Source: MLB.com
Los Angeles Dodgers designated hitter Jake Burger Supplies Only Run With Solo Blast
Jake Burger did all the damage on Thursday, smoking a solo homer in a 1-0 win over the Houston Astros. Burger finished the day 2-for-3, as he was one of two hitters to reach base for the Rangers in this one. The 29-year-old had a dreadful start to his season, getting sent to the minors in early May, but has gotten a hit in each of his four games since being called back up. His overall numbers still don't look good, as he holds a .214 AVG with 14 runs, four homers, and 15 RBI over 112 at-bats, but Burger is extremely streaky and could go on a home run binge at any point. He is worth picking up in any category leagues as he will likely provide you plenty of power at some point.Source: MLB.com
Texas Rangers first baseman Shawn Armstrong Notches Another Save
Shawn Armstrong slammed the door on the Houston Astros on Thursday, picking up his second save in a 1-0 win. Armstrong was tasked with finishing off Jacob deGrom's masterpiece, and succeeded in doing so by pitching around a two-out walk. With Chris Martin and Luke Jackson both nursing minor injuries, Armstrong has reaped the benefits by picking up the last two Rangers saves. The 34-year-old has performed well this year, so it is possible that manager Bruce Bochy decides to stick with Armstrong even when those two return. He's worthy of a speculative pick-up in deeper leagues where saves are valuable, just to see where this situation goes.Source: MLB.com

Jacob deGrom Quiets Astros In Masterful Start
Jacob deGrom tossed a gem on Thursday, shutting out the Houston Astros for eight innings and picking up his fourth win of the season in a 1-0 victory. The righty was dominant in this one, allowing just five hits and a walk while punching out seven. He threw a season-high 96 pitches, and the velocity on his fastball and slider were both up, two signs that he is beginning to feel like his old self. Even with deGrom returning from Tommy John surgery, he has been one of the best pitchers in the majors this year. He has a 4-1 record to go with a 2.29 ERA, 0.98 WHIP, and 53 strikeouts in 51 IP. The 36-year-old might not be the most dominant pitcher in the league like he once was, but he is still one of the best when he takes the mound. His next start should come Wednesday in New York in a tough matchup against the Yankees.Source: MLB.com
