The San Diego Padres announced on Wednesday that they placed rookie right-hander
Ryan Bergert (forearm) on the 15-day injured list with a right-forearm contusion and recalled right-hander
Sean Reynolds from Triple-A El Paso in a corresponding move. Bergert will now miss at least the next several weeks after he was hit by a comebacker in his start in Tuesday's win over the Washington Nationals. The 25-year-old's X-rays came back negative, though, so he should be able to return from the IL when he's eligible. The club's No. 21 prospect, per MLB Pipeline, could be needed in the rotation when he's ready to return, too, if
Yu Darvish (elbow) is still on the IL. Bergert was pitching in relief in the minors before his first big-league call-up, but he's pitched well for the Friars in nine appearances (five starts), posting a 2.67 ERA and 1.15 WHIP with 23 K's and 12 walks in 27 innings.

Texas Rangers infield prospect
Sebastian Walcott went 2-for-4 on Tuesday and stole three bases for Double-A Frisco. The Rangers' top-ranked prospect (MLB No. 9) started June in an 0-for-11 slump, but is 17-for-60 (.283) in the 16 games since then, although it has come with a .050 ISO. In fact, it has been 21 games since his last home run. Despite the power outage, the 19-year-old has been getting on base via the walk, recording 15 walks compared to only 18 strikeouts during that 21-game stretch. For the season, the young Bahamian is slashing .248/.347/.406 with eight home runs and 15 steals. If he picks it up at the plate, some at-bats at Triple-A later in the year are likely, and a debut in 2026 will put him on the redraft radar.

Xander Bogaerts (shoulder) has been scratched from the lineup for Wednesday's series finale against the visiting Washington Nationals at Petco Park with left-shoulder soreness, according to 97.3 The Fan's Sammy Levitt.

Tyler Wade playing second base and hitting eighth against Nationals left-hander
MacKenzie Gore.
Jake Cronenworth is getting the day off. The 32-year-old Bogaerts fractured the same shoulder last year, but for now fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day. With an off day coming on Thursday, he could be back in action for Friday's series opener in Cincinnati against the Reds. Bogaerts continues to fall off offensively in his third year in SD, hitting .246/.324/.344 with only four homers in 78 games, but he does have 13 stolen bases, already matching his total from a year ago.

Miami Marlins infield prospect
Starlyn Caba (thumb) has been activated from the 60-day injured list. The Marlins' second-ranked prospect (MLB No. 62) had been out of action since mid-April with a sprained thumb. The 19-year-old did not complete a rehab assignment, rather, he started right back up with Single-A Jupiter on Tuesday. The switch-hitting Dominican got off to a slow start in 2025, going 7-for-38 (.184) with zero extra-base hits, however, he's walked 15 times compared to just eight strikeouts, and has stolen six bases through 12 games played. Known for his defensive skills, the youngster will need to pick it up at the plate, as even though he posted a 13.9 percent walk rate and stole 13 bases at Single-A in 2024, he hit just .179 there in 26 games. His defense, ability to get on base, and his speed on the basepaths are what will get him to the big leagues, but that is still a few years away.

Richard Fitts. O'Hoppe gets the day off in a matinee game after catching 10 innings in the extra-inning victory on Tuesday night. The 25-year-old backstop is in the midst of a modest three-game hitting streak but has batted just .140 (8-for-57) with three home runs, a double, seven RBI, five runs scored and 17 strikeouts in 59 trips to the plate over 15 games in the month of June. O'Hoppe is still one of the elite fantasy catchers and already has 17 long balls in 231 at-bats in 2025. d'Arnaud will be a DFS sleeper against Fitts. He's hitting just .207 (24-for-116) with three homers and 10 RBI on the year.

Zach Neto (shoulder) is not in the starting lineup for Wednesday's series finale against the visiting Boston Red Sox, but The Athletic's Sam Blum reports that he's listed as available. Neto said that he was getting an MRI exam on Wednesday on his surgically-repaired right shoulder after he reinjured it on a slide in Tuesday's extra-inning win.
Scott Kingery is at the 6 on Wednesday and is batting ninth against Red Sox right-hander
Richard Fitts. It's good news that the 24-year-old Neto is available to play, but it doesn't mean he will necessarily avoid a trip to the injured list. The former first-rounder is on pace for a 30-homer, 30-steal season, so losing him for any amount of time would be a tough break for the Halos and fantasy managers. For however long Neto is out, expect Kingery and
Kevin Newman to split time at shortstop.

Robert Suarez will drop his appeal after his suspension for hitting Los Angeles Dodgers two-way superstar
Shohei Ohtani was reduced to two games, league sources tell The Athletic's Dennis Lin. Suarez initially received a three-game suspension and an undisclosed fine from MLB last Friday after he was ejected on Thursday night for hitting Ohtani in the right shoulder in a game that featured a benches-clearing incident. The hard-throwing 34-year-old picked up his 22nd save of the season in the 4-3 win over the Washington Nationals on Tuesday night, but he could begin serving his two-game suspension in Wednesday's series finale. San Diego has Thursday off before traveling to Cincinnati to face the Reds in a three-game series that starts on Friday. If a save situation arises for the Friars with Suarez out, it could be lefty

MacKenzie Gore. Cronenworth will get his first day off since May 23 against a tough lefty. The left-handed-hitting infielder has gone 11-for-53 (.208) with two of his six home runs and 13 strikeouts in 63 plate appearances against lefties this season. In the month of June, he has hit a modest .241 (19-for-79) with two home runs, three doubles, eight RBI, one steal and six runs scored in 23 games played. The 31-year-old two-time All-Star has provided modest power and counting stats as middle-infield depth in deep-mixed fantasy leagues. Iglesias has three hits in six career at-bats against Gore, but he's an unattractive DFS sleeper with virtually no upside.

Luis Arraez will shift to the leadoff spot as the Padres continue to search for more offense. In 22 games in June, Tatis is hitting a pedestrian .250 (20-for-80) with two home run, four doubles, nine RBI, five steals and 18 runs scored. The 26-year-old two-time All-Star should have more opportunities to drive in runs but will be facing a pitcher in the midst of a breakout season. He's also struggled against lefties in 2025, going 13-for-74 (.176) with only one of his 15 home runs and 20 K's in 88 trips to the plate. Tatis has hit .200 with an RBI in just five career at-bats versus Gore.

Pittsburgh Pirates third baseman
Ke'Bryan Hayes is absent from the team's lineup for Wednesday's series finale against the division-rival Milwaukee Brewers on the road.
Jared Triolo will take over at third and will hit seventh against Brewers rookie right-hander
Jacob Misiorowski. Hayes will put his current five-game hitting streak on hold for a rest day. The 28-year-old former first-rounder continues to mainly be a bust offensively, but he's gone 6-for-16 (.375) with three RBI and three runs scored during his modest hitting streak of late. Overall, though, there's little to like about his 2025 showing, as he's slashing .232/.284/.283 with only two long balls, 22 RBI, 22 runs and nine stolen bases in 272 at-bats as Pittsburgh's primary third baseman. Fantasy managers should be fading Triolo against Misiorowski, one of the top pitching prospects in baseball.

Oneil Cruz is being dropped to fifth in the batting order for Wednesday's series finale against the division-rival Milwaukee Brewers and rookie right-hander
Jacob Misiorowski. It comes after Cruz was pulled from Tuesday's loss after not running out a double-play grounder in the seventh inning. Cruz claims he lost track of the outs. Manager
Don Kelly cited Cruz's "energy and effort going down the line" for why he was pulled. The 26-year-old has hit just .156 (12-for-77) with 31 strikeouts in the month of June despite having a .911 OPS in early May. He's now hitting .208/.321/.404 with 13 homers, 31 RBI and 26 steals in 71 games. Although Cruz is currently slumping, he's still an everyday fantasy asset in regular leagues. In DFS, though, managers may want to stay away while he's slumping against a young rookie pitcher who has looked unhittable in his first two MLB starts.

William Contreras is sitting out of the series finale on Wednesday against the division-rival Pittsburgh Pirates at American Family Field.
Eric Haase will do the catching for rookie right-hander
Jacob Misiorowski and will bat in the nine-hole against Pirates right-hander
Paul Skenes. Contreras will get a breather against a tough pitcher after starting each of the team's last 17 games. The 27-year-old Venezuelan backstop has been quiet in the month of June, hitting .208 (15-for-72) with a homer, four doubles, eight RBI, 13 walks and 18 strikeouts in 87 trips to the plate over 20 games played. After making his second All-Star squad last year, he's been mostly a disappointment for fantasy managers in 2025, as he's currently slashing .241/.354/.348 with only six homers, 34 RBI and five steals. Haase is an easy fade on Wednesday against Skenes.

ESPN's Buster Olney reports that Atlanta Braves designated hitter
Marcell Ozuna has been "included in a lot of trade speculation." Olney notes, however, that due to the veteran qualifying for 10-and-5 Rights, he'd be able to veto any trade set forth by the squad. Atlanta has their work cut out for them in the NL East with the Philadelphia Phillies up by double-digit games and the New York Mets right behind them in the standings. The Braves have a little more than a month to dig themselves out of their current hole and determine whether to sell or buy at the deadline. If Ozuna does find himself in new digs, it's hard to imagine he'll be in a better situation, lineup-wise, than he is now. He's regressed a bit this season while dealing with a hip tear, but still sports a solid .252/.385/.414 slash line with 11 homers.
