Youssef Zalal suffered a unanimous decision loss to former bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling in the main event of UFC Vegas 116 on Saturday. After putting together five straight victories since returning to the UFC in February 2024, Zalal was completely dominated in this bout as Aljamain constantly put pressure on Zalal, taking him down time and time again and outgrappling him for the majority of the fight. In 25 minutes of action, Zalal landed 35 significant strikes. This is the first major setback of Zalal's second Octagon stint. With the loss, Zalal dropped to 8-4-1 in the UFC.--Alen Kurbasic
