Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mike Trout was scratched from the lineup for Tuesday's series opener in Kansas City against the Royals with a skin infection, according to the team. Joe Adell is the designated hitter and is batting cleanup, while Chris Taylor is starting in right field and batting sixth against Royals right-hander Michael Lorenzen. It's unclear how serious this is for Trout or if it will keep him out beyond Tuesday's contest. Fantasy managers will want to check back on Trout's status for Game 2 of the series in KC on Wednesday. The 11-time All-Star and three-time MVP is no longer in his prime and is striking out more than ever in his career, although he still has some pop left in his lumber. Through 381 at-bats this year, he's hitting .231 (88-for-381) with 20 homers, 54 RBI and 58 runs scored. He hit just .214 (18-for-84) with a homer, seven RBI and 38 K's in 24 games in August.--Keith Hernandez

Detroit Tigers starting pitcher Chris Paddack has been moved out of the rotation and into the bullpen, according to manager A.J. Hinch. Paddack has been horrible with a 5.40 ERA, 1.20 WHIP, and allowed eight home runs since being acquired by the Tigers at the trade deadline. It sounds like this is going to be a permanent move barring any injuries to other starters. The assumption is that Sawyer Gipson-Long will take over in the starting rotation. Paddack is available out of the bullpen during Tuesday's game. Neither pitcher has performed well enough on the mound to warrant rostering in fantasy formats. UPDATE: In addition to being moved to a relief role, the Tigers will place Paddack on the bereavement list on Wednesday.--Andy Webb

Boston Red Sox starting pitcher Dustin May will move to the bullpen for this week. The team wants to keep all their starters on turn following Thursday's off day. Basically, the Red Sox want to make sure May gets into game action and not have 10 days off between starts. The team plans to go with a bullpen game on Wednesday, so possibly May pitches then. It sounds like May moving to the bullpen is only for this week and he'll get back into the rotation after that. May has struggled with his new team as he has allowed 11 earned runs over his last two starts. The right-hander might only be worth rostering in deep leagues given his struggles on the mound lately.--Andy Webb

New York Mets outfielder Jesse Winker (back) has been shut down from baseball activities and is likely going to miss the rest of the 2025 season. Winker began a rehab assignment last week, but was shut down after going hitless with four strikeouts in two games. The fact he isn't doing any baseball activities with less than a month left in the season means he's likely done for 2025. Winker has been out since the middle of July due to back inflammation. He'll finish his 2025 season with a .229/.309/.400 slash line with one home run and 10 RBI across 26 games. He's set to be a free agent after the season, so we'll see what happens with him.--Andy Webb

Minnesota Twins starting pitcher David Festa (shoulder) will be shut down for the rest of the 2025 season. Festa reported having returned discomfort in his shoulder following a rehab start on Thursday. The team has scheduled Festa to visit with a specialist over the next week. Regardless of that visit, Festa won't return to the mound in 2025. The team wants to make sure Festa doesn't require any surgeries that could impact his availability for the 2026 season. He'll finish this season with a 5.40 ERA, 1.28 WHIP, and a 53/19 K/BB ratio across 53.1 innings with the Twins. There should be another update on his status in the coming days.--Andy Webb

Baltimore Orioles infielder Jorge Mateo (hamstring) was activated off the 60-day injured list on Tuesday. Mateo has been sidelined since June due to a left elbow injury. He recovered from that injury, but suffered a hamstring strain during a rehab contest. Mateo is good to go now, but he figures to take on a bench role in Baltimore. That being said, Mateo probably won't offer much fantasy value as a role player. He has good speed, so he could be a possible DFS candidate when he does crack the starting lineup.--Andy Webb

San Francisco Giants infielder Casey Schmitt (elbow) is out of the starting lineup ahead of Tuesday's game against the Colorado Rockies. Schmitt is dealing with an elbow injury after getting hit by a pitch during Monday's contest. The X-rays came back clean, so Schmitt doesn't appear to be dealing with any fractures. For now, fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day. Christian Koss will take over second base and bat eighth versus left-hander Kyle Freeland on Tuesday. Fantasy managers should check back on Wednesday for another update on Schmitt.--Andy Webb

The Arizona Diamondbacks announced on Tuesday that they placed outfielder Lourdes Gurriel Jr. (knee) on the 10-day injured list with a tear in his right ACL and recalled infielder Connor Kaiser from Triple-A Reno in a corresponding move. Gurriel suffered the season-ending injury in Monday's loss to the Texas Rangers while trying to avoid crashing into teammate Blaze Alexander in the outfield. It's a tough break for the 31-year-old veteran, who will finish the 2025 season with a .248/.295/.418 slash line, .713 OPS, 19 home runs, 80 RBI, 52 runs scored and a career-high 10 stolen bases in 129 games in his third year with the team. Although he is unlikely to be ready for the start of the 2026 season, Gurriel will most likely exercise his $13 million player option. Jake McCarthy is likely to benefit the most to close out the regular season in left field for the Snakes with Gurriel now done.--Keith Hernandez

Cleveland Guardians left-hander Joey Cantillo is with the big-league club and is expected to make the start for Wednesday's game at Fenway Park against the Boston Red Sox, according to Paul Hoynes of The Cleveland Plain Dealer. Left-hander Logan Allen will be either pushed back in the rotation or moved to the bullpen with the return of Cantillo. The 25-year-old southpaw won't be a recommended streamer for fantasy managers in his return to the Guards on Wednesday after sporting an ERA over 6.00 with 12 strikeouts and four walks in two starts for Triple-A Columbus since being sent down to the farm. In his 29 appearances (eight starts) in the big leagues this year, Cantillo has a decent 3.93 ERA with a 1.42 WHIP, 80 strikeouts and 36 walks in 66 1/3 frames. In a relief appearance against Boston on April 27, he allowed three runs (two earned) with a walk and three K's in just two innings.--Keith Hernandez

New York Mets outfielder Tyrone Taylor (hamstring) was placed on the 10-day injured list on Tuesday with a hamstring strain, according to Mike Puma of the New York Post. The Mets recalled first baseman Jared Young from Triple-A Syracuse in a corresponding move. Taylor has been out of the Mets' lineup the last couple of days with the injury and will now miss more time. The 31-year-old will now be hoping to return later this month to try and help the team get into the postseason. Outside of some modest speed (11 stolen bases), he has been off the fantasy radar, hitting .218 (65-for-298) with only two home runs, 25 RBI and 33 runs scored as a fourth outfielder in New York. Fantasy managers still playing for something in 2025 can continue to ignore Taylor.--Keith Hernandez

Colorado Rockies rookie infielder Warming Bernabel (knee, quadriceps) is not in the starting lineup for Tuesday's contest against the division-rival San Francisco Giants at Coors Field. Kyle Farmer will make the start at first base and will bat eighth against Giants right-hander Logan Webb. Bernabel is dealing with a bruised left knee and quadriceps muscle and will take a seat for the third straight game. The 23-year-old is considered day-to-day right now and could be back in action for Wednesday's game in Denver. Farmer should be considered a very low-upside DFS sleeper despite playing at hitter-friendly Coors Field. The 35-year-old veteran has hit .230 (59-for-256) this year with seven homers and 28 RBI. He is also hitless in eight career at-bats against Webb with a .111 OPS.--Keith Hernandez

Athletics rookie first baseman Nick Kurtz (oblique) is starting at first base and batting leadoff for Tuesday's game at Busch Stadium against the St. Louis Cardinals and right-hander Miles Mikolas. Fantasy managers will want to get the left-handed slugger back in their starting lineups everywhere after Kurtz missed three games with discomfort in his oblique. Thankfully, he was able to avoid the injured list. While the 22-year-old rookie already has high-end power in his first year in the big leagues, he is in a bit of a slump recently, going 4-for-20 with a homer, five runs scored and nine strikeouts in nine games before hurting his oblique. But despite the recent cold stretch at the plate, Kurtz is still hitting .308 (103-for-334) with 27 home runs, 70 RBI and 70 runs scored in his first 94 games in the big leagues. He's the real deal.--Keith Hernandez

Los Angeles Angels outfielder Taylor Ward (head) remains sidelined for the series opener in Kansas City against the Royals on Tuesday. Matthew Lugo will draw a second straight start in left field for the Halos and will bat seventh against Royals right-hander Michael Lorenzen at Kauffman Stadium. Ward had to leave Sunday's ballgame against the Houston Astros early due to a scary collision with the outfield wall in which he suffered a nasty cut above his left eye. The 31-year-old veteran has since cleared the league's concussion protocol and is hoping to return to action later this week if he's given the green light. Lugo has gone 11-for-54 (.204) with three homers and six RBI in limited big-league action this year and shouldn't be included in DFS lineups. Although Ward swings and misses often, he has already reached a career-high 30 bombs in 134 games in 2025.--Keith Hernandez

Chicago White Sox infielder Chase Meidroth (ankle) is out of Tuesday's starting lineup against the division-rival Minnesota Twins at Target Field after suffering a sprained right ankle in Monday's contest. Lenyn Sosa will draw the start at the keystone and will bat out of the three-hole against Twins right-hander Simeon Woods Richardson. For now, Meidroth should be viewed as day-to-day by fantasy managers in deeper leagues, but he shouldn't be ruled out for a trip to the injured list if he can't get back on the field soon. Sosa has been one of the team's more productive bats this year, as he enters Tuesday's game with a career-best 18 home runs, 61 RBI and a .266/.295/.432 slash line in 120 games played for the Pale Hose. In his first 99 MLB games this year, Meidroth has gone 92-for-363 (.253) with only four homers, 21 RBI and 13 steals in 409 trips to the plate.--Keith Hernandez

Cleveland Guardians infielder Gabriel Arias (hand) is still out of the starting nine for Tuesday's game against the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park. Brayan Rocchio will slide over to shortstop for yet another start and will bat seventh against Red Sox left-hander Garrett Crochet. The Guardians were expecting Arias to return to action on Tuesday after he was hit on his right hand by a pitch last Friday, but they are giving him another day off and he will miss a fourth straight game. Rocchio isn't much to look at with a bat in his hands and is hitless in four career at-bats against Crochet. Fantasy managers setting DFS lineups should look elsewhere for a sleeper at the position. Arias is also a glove-first player for the Guards and is currently slashing a weak .222/.281/.362 with a .642 OPS, nine home runs, 45 RBI, 36 runs and six steals in 351 at-bats.--Keith Hernandez
