4 days agoSeattle Mariners catcher Mitch Garver is out of the starting lineup ahead of Monday's game against the Chicago White Sox. The veteran slugger appears to be getting a routine rest day here. Garver was sluggish to begin the season but is 4-for-13 with two home runs and five walks over the last four games. Despite that, it appears the Mariners aren't committed to putting him in the lineup full-time again. Mitch Haniger will serve as designated hitter and bat fifth versus right-hander Erick Fedde.Source: mlb.com
4 days agoMilwaukee Brewers starting pitcher Joe Ross (back) has reportedly suffered a setback while rehabbing. The hope was that Ross would be able to return to the team around mid-June. After this news, Ross is unlikely to be back until at least some time in July. He still needs to go on a minor league rehab assignment as well. It's possible that Chris Rodriguez sticks in the starting rotation for a few more turns.Source: Tood Rosiak
4 days agoNew York Yankees outfielder Aaron Judge (rest) is out of the starting lineup ahead of Monday's game against the Kansas City Royals. This is a well deserved day off for Judge who has started the first 67 games of the season for the Yankees. He has been red-hot at the plate with three home runs and 12 RBI over his last six games. The good news is that Juan Soto (forearm) is back in the lineup and serving as the designated hitter on Monday. Fantasy managers should adjust their lineups accordingly.Source: Brendan Kuty
4 days agoThrough the first month of the 2024 season, Washington Nationals outfield prospect Dylan Crews slashed just .225/.296/.664 with a double, two home runs, and 11 RBI with Double-A Harrisburg. In 130 plate appearances since the beginning of May, Crews is slashing .286/.362/.464 with eight doubles, two homers, 23 RBI, and 10 stolen bases. Considering his performance, he could soon receive a Triple-A promotion, and there's a chance he'll make his big-league debut at some point this season. In total, Crews is slashing .267/.342/.435 with nine doubles, three triples, four homers, 34 RBI, and 12 steals.Source: Baseball Reference
4 days agoNew York Yankees outfielder Juan Soto (forearm) is back in the starting lineup ahead of Monday's game against the Kansas City Royals. The superstar slugger returns to the lineup after missing each of the last three games due to elbow inflammation. The Yankees will bring back Soto slowly and have him serve as the designated hitter on Monday. The assumption is that he'll be back in the outfield soon. Fantasy managers should make sure to adjust their lineups with Soto returning here.Source: Brendan Kuty
4 days agoOakland Athletics first baseman/outfielder Seth Brown is out of the starting lineup ahead of Monday's game against the San Diego Padres. This marks the second game in a row that Brown has sat out against a right-handed starting pitcher. Brown has been struggling with a .190/.250/.307 slash line this season. Daz Cameron will cover right field and bat sixth versus right-hander Dylan Cease on Monday. It appears Cameron is going to get an increased look going forward.Source: mlb.com
4 days agoDetroit Tigers right-hander Alex Faedo (hip) underwent imaging on his hip last Thursday and will get further evaluation, but he was able to do some on-field workouts last Friday. Faedo went on the 15-day injured list last Wednesday after complaining of hip pain following his June 4 outing against the Texas Rangers on the road. The former first-round draft pick previously had hip surgery in 2022, so this injury is something to watch closely. Once considered a starter, all 21 of Faedo's appearances in 2024 before getting hurt came out of Detroit's bullpen, and he went 3-1 with 3.38 ERA (4.48 FIP) and 1.18 WHIP with a 29:13 K:BB in 34 2/3 innings pitched. He has been more efficient so far in a relief role for the Tigers, but it's also not a role really conducive to fantasy appeal for Faedo.Source: MLB.com
4 days agoFrom May 8 to May 22, Toronto Blue Jays infield prospect Orelvis Martinez went just 2-for-40 with two home runs in Triple-A Buffalo. Before that, he'd been slashing .299/.379/.598 with eight doubles, nine home runs, and 26 RBI. Fortunately, the 22-year-old slugger has recovered well from his slump. Since May 23, he's slashing .286/.375/.571 with four doubles, four homers, and 11 RBI in 64 plate appearances. Many experts expect the Blue Jays to promote Martinez at some point this season, potentially as early as the end of the summer. Through 57 games in Triple-A, he has a .249/.336/.516 slash line with 12 doubles, 15 home runs, and 43 RBI.Source: Baseball Reference
4 days agoDetroit Tigers outfielder Kerry Carpenter (spine) has been rehabbing at Comerica Park but is not close to resuming baseball activities. "He's doing a lot of therapy and a lot of work, but to get things to heal, there's zero baseball activity," manager A.J. Hinch said. "There's not much to speak of on the baseball front. On the rehab front, whether it's heat, whether it's exercises, those aren't really glorious to talk about or write about, but it's just general physical therapy that he's going through until he can introduce baseball activity in the weeks ahead." The 26-year-old was diagnosed with a lumbar spine stress fracture, so it's really no surprise he's not doing anything baseball related yet. Carpenter won't be able to return to the big-league roster until after the All-Star break in mid-July. Until then, Akil Baddoo should continue to benefit from increased playing time in Detroit's outfield.Source: MLB.com

4 days agoArizona Diamondbacks shortstop Geraldo Perdomo (knee) will return from the 10-day injured list to rejoin the team on Tuesday for the start of their series against the Los Angeles Angels. Perdomo has been out since early April after requiring surgery to fix the meniscus in his right knee, but the 24-year-old is now ready to rejoin the Snakes and will eventually settle back in as the club's everyday shortstop, which is bad news for both veteran Kevin Newman and rookie Blaze Alexander, who have been filling in at the 6 since Perdomo went down. Perdomo isn't a high-end fantasy option at the shortstop position by any means, but he did make the All-Star squad in 2023 for the first time in his career, when the switch-hitting Dominican slashed .246/.353/.359 with six homers, 47 RBI and 16 stolen bases in 144 regular-season games.Source: Arizona Sports - John Gambadoro
4 days agoSan Diego Padres manager Mike Shildt said on MLB Network Radio on SiriusXM that third baseman Manny Machado (hip) "will be in the DH spot to make sure we limit the load on his lower half." A strained right hip flexor has kept Machado out of the team's starting lineup for each of the last four games, although he did serve in a pinch-hitting role several times since getting hurt last week in Anaheim against the Los Angeles Angels. The 31-year-old veteran will hope to pick up where he left off offensively before his injury as he faces Oakland Athletics right-hander Joey Estes on Monday, a pitcher he's never faced in his career. After getting off to a slow start in 2024, Machado has picked things up at the plate and is hitting .333 (16-for-48) with a homer, four doubles, seven RBI, three steals and five runs scored in 15 games since May 22. Get him back in your fantasy lineups this week.Source: MLB Network Radio on Sirius XM
4 days agoKansas City Royals left-handed-hitting first baseman Vinnie Pasquantino will start on the bench on Monday versus the visiting New York Yankees and left-hander Carlos Rodon, even though he's hitting .302 (13-for-43) against left-handers this year. Pasquantino has been hot so far in the month of June, hitting .310 (9-for-29) with a homer, four doubles, a triple, seven RBI and four runs scored in seven games to raise his season slash line to .243/.315/.437. Although fantasy managers may have been expecting more power (he has seven home runs), they can't complain about his 43 RBI for an upstart Royals club. Salvador Perez will play first and bat third, while Freddy Fermin will do the catching and hit sixth for the Royals on Monday against Rodon.Source: Kansas City Royals
4 days agoMinnesota Twins outfielder Byron Buxton is taking a seat on Monday against the visiting Colorado Rockies. Manuel Margot will draw into center field for the series opener and will bat eighth against Rockies right-hander Dakota Hudson. The oft-injured Buxton could use a day of rest, as he's gone 12-for-65 (.185) with two home runs, one triple, five RBI, four walks and 21 strikeouts in 19 games since coming off the injured list on May 18. The 30-year-old has already been on the IL this year, is hitting just .223 (35-for-157), and hasn't shown much speed or power so far for the Twins in 2024. Margot has very little fantasy upside, especially in the eight-hole, and is hitting just .225 (27-for-120) on the year with a homer, 12 RBI and three stolen bases. He has one hit in four career at-bats versus Hudson.Source: MLB.com
