Calvin Ridley Facing Another Tough Matchup in Week 2
Calvin Ridley underwhelmed in Week 1 against cornerback Patrick Surtain II and the Denver Broncos defense, recording just four catches for 27 yards. On a positive note, Ridley led the Titans in targets (eight) and looks like the clear number one option in the passing game for Tennessee rookie quarterback Cameron Ward. Still, it could be a struggle again for Ridley in Week 2 against the Los Angeles Rams. The Rams' defense dominated the Houston Texans' passing game in Week 1, holding Houston to 188 yards passing and shutting down star Texans wide receiver Nico Collins (three catches for 25 yards). Ridley should still see a heavy volume of targets on Sunday, but efficiency and end zone opportunities may be hard to come by. He profiles as a low-end fantasy WR3 in Week 2.

Landry Shamet Staying with the Knicks
Landry Shamet is sticking around with the team for at least one more year. According to ESPN's Shams Charania, Shamet and the Knicks agreed to a one-year deal on Thursday. The former first-round pick has spent time on six different teams since being drafted by the Philadelphia 76ers in 2018. Last year, he appeared in 50 regular-season games and averaged 5.7 points, 1.2 rebounds, and 1.2 threes across 15.2 minutes per game. He also appeared in 10 playoff games, but played very sparingly in those contests. Shamet hasn't been very fantasy-relevant throughout his career, and he'll likely continue in the same role for the foreseeable future.

Tony Pollard Remains Likely to Dominate Backfield Touches in Tennessee
Tony Pollard did not have his most efficient game in Week 1 against the Denver Broncos, rushing for 60 yards on 18 carries and recording one catch for 29 yards. Still, Pollard received 90% of the running back carries for Tennessee in Week 1, a trend that figures to continue as long as Titans RB2 Tyjae Spears (ankle) remains on Injured Reserve due to a high ankle sprain. Pollard gets a tough matchup in Week 2 against the Los Angeles Rams, who allowed just nine points to the Houston Texans in Week 1. However, Houston gained 127 yards on the ground, and lead back Nick Chubb averaged 4.6 yards per carry. Expect Tennessee to lean on Pollard to ease the pressure on rookie quarterback Cameron Ward and slow down a formidable Rams' pass rush. Pollard is a volume-based low-end fantasy RB2 in Week 2.

Jacory Croskey-Merritt Sees Little Usage in Week 2, Outlook Still Trending Upwards?
Jacory Croskey-Merritt was barely utilized in Week 2, recording four carries for 17 yards in his team's 27-18 loss to the Green Bay Packers. However, Croskey-Merritt could be in line for significantly more touches going forward, given the unfortunate news that veteran running back Austin Ekeler (Achilles) may have suffered a torn Achilles. Even in Week 2, Croskey-Merritt's struggles could be attributed mostly to game script and Washington's overall inability to run the ball (51 yards on 19 rush attempts). Without Ekeler, the Commanders' backfield consists of three largely unproven backs in Croskey-Merritt, Jeremy McNichols, and Chris Rodriguez Jr. Croskey-Merritt could reasonably lock down a true lead role at some point in the next few weeks and should be held by fantasy managers in all league formats despite the poor Week 2 performance.

Deebo Samuel Sr. Leads Commanders in Catches, Scores Touchdown Again
Deebo Samuel Sr. was heavily involved in the offense for the second straight week in his team's 27-18 loss to the Green Bay Packers on Thursday night. Samuel Sr. was targeted eight times, hauling in seven catches for 44 yards and a touchdown. It was not an efficient night for Washington overall, and Samuel Sr. was no different, averaging just 6.3 yards per reception. Still, it's an encouraging sign for fantasy managers that Samuel Sr. has been targeted 18 times and logged 15 total touches through Washington's first two games. Early on, the 29-year-old profiles as a high-end flex option going into a much easier Week 3 matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders.

Orelvis Martinez Designated For Assignment on Thursday
Orelvis Martinez was shut down due to an unspecified injury on Monday, but his inconsistent play on the field is likely what also led to him losing his 40-man roster spot. The move comes to make room for Alek Manoah's (elbow) activation from the 60-day injured list on Thursday. Martinez has struggled mightily in 2025, slashing .197/.288/.348 with 13 home runs, 38 runs scored, 32 RBI, a 28.4 percent strikeout rate, and two stolen bases in 394 Triple-A plate appearances. Martinez was once on MLB's top-100 prospect list in 2023 and 2024, but has since been removed from that list over the last season and will look to rebound in 2026. He remains a decent dynasty stash for the time being at only 23 years old.

Jack Suwinski Homers in Thursday's Rehab Outing
Jack Suwinski (groin) went 1-for-3 with a solo home run Thursday in a rehab appearance with Triple-A Indianapolis. Suwinski has been sidelined since August 29 with a groin injury, but made his first rehab appearance on Thursday. He took Michael Soroka (shoulder) deep in the sixth inning before being removed for defensive purposes a few innings later. While it's encouraging to see Suwinski get a hold of one in his first rehab start, he has struggled at the plate in 2025, slashing .132/.286/.240 with three home runs, eight RBI, 13 runs scored, and six stolen bases in 121 at-bats. Fantasy managers looking for outfield production will want to look elsewhere, as Suwinski is a career .199 hitter through four seasons and through 1,330 plate appearances.

Michael Soroka Sharp in Rehab Start on Thursday
Michael Soroka (shoulder) allowed one earned run on one hit and no walks while striking out three across 2 1/3 innings in a rehab outing with Triple-A Iowa on Thursday. Soroka was acquired by the Cubs at the trade deadline and was pulled from his first start with the new ball club on August 4 with a shoulder injury. Thursday marked his first appearance in a professional game since the injury, and he was pretty sharp, as he fired 22 of 38 pitches for strikes, and the only damage was a solo home run to Jack Suwinski. The Cubs sit comfortably up 7.5 games in the NL Wild Card race, and could use all the extra help they could get before the regular season concludes on September 28. Soroka has put together a respectable season in 2025, with a 4.86 ERA, 1.13 WHIP, and a 90/25 K/BB ratio in 83 1/3 innings pitched.

Dalton Rushing Smacks a Double in His Rehab Assignment Thursday
Dalton Rushing (lower leg) began a rehab assignment with Triple-A Oklahoma City on Thursday and went 1-for-4 with a double and caught all nine innings, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports. Rushing has been sidelined since September 6, but it appears to be a short stint, as he was able to play the whole game on Thursday. It seems he has a strong chance to be activated after a minimum stay on the injured list. Rushing has gotten his opportunities in the big leagues, slashing .194/.254/.298 with three home runs, 21 RBI, and 12 runs scored through 121 at-bats. While it appears likely the Dodgers will call him back up before the season's end, fantasy managers competing in the playoffs of their leagues will want to look elsewhere for catcher production. Rushing remains a strong dynasty stash.

Zach Ertz Snags Six Receptions, Scores in Loss
Zach Ertz was busy on the field during Thursday's game against the Green Bay Packers. He finished with 26 yards and a touchdown in the season opener, but was able to top that here. Ertz hauled in six of his eight targets for 64 yards and a score in the loss on Thursday. It was his second straight game with a touchdown as he hauled in a 20-yard score in the fourth quarter. The veteran tight end appears to be a safety blanket for Jayden Daniels. That being said, Ertz should be viewed as a high-end TE2 for the Week 3 matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders.

Noah Brown Doesn't Return on Thursday
Noah Brown (groin) was forced to make an early exit from Thursday's game against the Green Bay Packers. Brown exited in the third quarter with a groin injury and was quickly ruled out for the rest of the game. He finished with one catch on four targets for nine yards in the loss. It's unclear at the moment if Brown will be ready to go for the Week 3 matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders. The absence of Brown would likely lead to increased roles for Deebo Samuel Sr., Terry McLaurin, and possibly Luke McCaffrey.

Jayden Daniels Tosses Two Touchdowns in Loss
Jayden Daniels was unable to have much success early during Thursday's game against the Green Bay Packers. Daniels was held in check for a majority of the first half, but was able to do some damage after halftime. He completed 24-of-42 passing attempts for 200 yards and a pair of touchdowns in the loss. Daniels also added a two-point conversation and rushed seven times for an additional 17 yards in the defeat. It was a nice performance from a fantasy perspective, but the Commanders are hopeful for a better game during next week's matchup versus the Las Vegas Raiders.

Romeo Doubs Scores in Victory
Romeo Doubs got off to a quick start during Thursday's game against the Washington Commanders. Doubs got the scoring started with a five-yard touchdown grab in the first quarter. Sadly, Doubs didn't do much on the field after that. He finished this game by hauling in three of his five targets for 28 yards and one score in the win. It's worth noting that the Packers lost wideout Jayden Reed (shoulder) during this game. His absence would likely open up a bigger role for Doubs going forward. Despite that, Doubs remains in the WR4 range for the Week 3 matchup against the Cleveland Browns.

Josh Jacobs Scores in 10th Straight Game
Josh Jacobs continued to have success during Thursday's game against the Washington Commanders. Last week, Jacobs rushed 66 yards with a touchdown in the win over the Detroit Lions. Jacobs continued his success on Thursday with 84 yards on 23 rushing attempts with a touchdown in the victory over the Commanders. He carried the ball into the endzone in the second quarter for his second score of the season and it marked his 10th straight game with a touchdown. Jacobs will remain a RB1 and the workhorse back heading into their Week 3 matchup versus the Cleveland Browns.

Tucker Kraft Posts Huge Performance on Thursday
Tucker Kraft posted an excellent performance during Thursday's game against the Washington Commanders. Kraft was quiet with a 16-yard performance in the season opener, but looked unstoppable here. He hauled in six of his seven targets for 124 yards and one touchdown in the win. It was his first career 100-yard game as he also led the team in receptions, receiving yards, and targets. It's worth noting that the departure of Jayden Reed (shoulder) likely contributed to Kraft's increase in usage. The status of Reed for Week 3 should have some impact on Kraft's value for that one. Regardless, Kraft is looking like an appealing option for that Week 3 matchup against the Cleveland Browns.

RJ Harvey "Really Impressed" Coaching Staff in NFL Debut
RJ Harvey "really impressed" the coaching staff during his NFL debut last Sunday. During their victory against the Tennessee Titans, the second-round pick was deployed as the clear No. 2 option to veteran J.K. Dobbins, but was still effective when given the ball. On six attempts, the UCF product tallied 70 yards. In the air, Harvey caught his lone target for -1 yards. During this contest, Dobbins was given the lion's share in the Denver backfield as he took the ball 16 times for 63 yards and a score. While Harvey should continue to see his role grow as the season progresses, the workload may remain similar during their Week 2 matchup against the Indianapolis Colts. As a result, Dobbins projects to be a low-end RB2 while Harvey carries flex appeal.

Lack of Joe Mixon Injury Updates Sparking Concern for Fantasy Managers?
Joe Mixon (ankle, foot) is creating a sense of concern and uncertainty for fantasy managers. The Texans have provided very few updates on Mixon since placing him on the non-football injury list, and general manager Nick Caserio was non-committal on the running back playing this season. That was two weeks ago, though, and a lack of chatter about the veteran ball-carrier puts managers in a difficult position. Roster spots are precious, so managers only want to stash Mixon if they think he's going to return later this year. Even in leagues with IR spots, there's no point in holding Mixon if the Texans don't expect him back. However, with the team declining to provide an update, managers have no choice but to keep him on the back end of their rosters. In the meantime, Nick Chubb will remain the team's primary running back with Dameon Pierce and Woody Marks also getting involved.

Chris Rodriguez Jr. Headed For Significant Role After Austin Ekeler Injury?
Chris Rodriguez Jr. could handle a larger workload after the team lost Austin Ekeler to a suspected torn Achilles on Thursday. Rodriguez has been a healthy scratch through the first two weeks of the season, but he'll likely be active going forward as the Commanders' No. 3 running back behind Jacory Croskey-Merritt and Jeremy McNichols. Although he'll likely be third on the depth chart, Rodriguez could still carve out a significant, fantasy-relevant workload. Backfield roles in Washington have been quite fluid to start the year. For example, Croskey-Merritt went from 10 touches in Week 1 to just four in Week 2. The door is wide open for any of the three running backs to establish themselves in a higher-volume role, so don't close the book on Rodriguez just yet. He's an intriguing waiver wire option ahead of Week 3.

Jayden Reed Fractures Collarbone, Headed for Injured Reserve
Jayden Reed (shoulder) fractured his collarbone during Thursday's win over the Washington Commanders, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. He will be placed on injured reserve but is expected to return later this season. This is a crushing blow for the Packers, as Reed had been their best receiver so far this year. While it seems like his absence would benefit rookie first-round pick Matthew Golden the most, the Texas product finished Week 2 with just zero catches on two targets. Instead, the biggest beneficiary could be Dontayvion Wicks, who had six targets, four catches, and 44 receiving yards. Romeo Doubs, who scored a touchdown Thursday, should also see an uptick in volume. Of course, Jordan Love's favorite target going forward could end up being tight end Tucker Kraft, who has impressed with eight catches, 140 yards, and two touchdowns through two games this season.

Commanders Fear Austin Ekeler Tore his Achilles
Austin Ekeler tore his Achilles during Thursday's loss to the Green Bay Packers, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. He will undergo an MRI. Ekeler suffered the injury on a non-contact play late in the fourth quarter. If the diagnosis is confirmed, the veteran running back will be shut down for the remainder of his age-30 season. Such an outcome would shake up the depth chart in Washington, D.C. Jacory Croskey-Merritt would remain the lead back while Jeremy McNichols and Chris Rodriguez Jr. handle larger roles behind him.

Jeremy McNichols Could See Increased Usage After Austin Ekeler Injury
Jeremy McNichols could be headed for an increased workload after teammate Austin Ekeler suffered a serious Achilles injury on Thursday night. Ekeler suffered the injury late in the fourth quarter and was quickly ruled out, indicating that the severity is serious. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport echoed these concerns postgame, telling the Amazon Prime broadcasters that the Commanders' front office is concerned about Ekeler's status. If the veteran running back misses extended time, McNichols could step into a much larger role. He didn't register an offensive touch Thursday night but should enter Week 3 as the Commanders' No. 2 running back behind Jacory Croskey-Merritt. With more snaps on the way, McNichols immediately becomes an intriguing waiver wire option in fantasy football.

Jesus Luzardo Strikes Out 10 in Win
Jesus Luzardo earned his 14th win of the season in a 6-4 victory over the Mets on Thursday. He allowed four runs on five hits and no walks with 10 strikeouts in eight innings. All of the damage against the 27-year-old came in the first inning, as he quickly settled in for seven perfect frames following the rough start. This was his sixth double-digit strikeout performance of the season, and he remains one of the most unhittable pitchers in the game when everything is working right. The lefty sits with a 4.03 ERA, 1.26 WHIP, 200 strikeouts, and 56 walks in 169 ⅔ innings on the season.

Aaron Judge Matches Yankees Legend with Two-Homer Game
Aaron Judge went 3-for-4 with two solo home runs in Thursday's 9-3 win against the Tigers, bringing his season total to 46 and his career total to 361. Those 361 long balls for New York move him into a tie for fourth-most in franchise history with the all-time great Joe DiMaggio. The slugger is slashing .322/.443/.669 with 118 runs, 100 RBI, and 11 stolen bases to go along with his 46 home runs. He is the current favorite to take home the AL MVP Award for the second year in a row and figures to once again be a top-three pick in fantasy for 2026.

Logan O'Hoppe on Track to Return Early Next Week
Logan O'Hoppe (concussion) is feeling better and is on track to return during the upcoming series against Milwaukee, reports Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com. He was placed on the 7-day concussion injured list on Monday after being hit in the head by the backswing of Jacob Wilson. It's positive news that he is on track for an early return, as the series against the Brewers runs from Tuesday to Thursday next week. The 25-year-old has taken a step back this season so far with a .217 batting average and .260 on-base percentage, but his 19 home runs are still above average for a backstop.

Austin Ekeler Injured, Carried Off Field with Non-Contact Injury
Austin Ekeler (Achilles) suffered what appeared to be a serious injury in the fourth quarter of the Thursday Night Football game against the Green Bay Packers, and had to be carried off the field. Due to the non-contact nature of the injury, and the fact that he immediately grabbed at his lower-leg area, there is speculation that he may have suffered a torn Achilles. He has officially been ruled out for the game, and we would expect him to miss significant time, if not the remainder of the season. Rookie running back Jacory Croskey-Merritt should be elevated even further into a featured role, with Jeremy McNichols and Chris Rodriguez Jr. likely being involved as well. Look for further news updates as we hear more confirmation about the severity of Ekeler's injury after further medical testing.

Chase Dollander Headed for Injured List
Chase Dollander (knee) is expected to go on the injured list and miss the remainder of the season, reports Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post. This is after Dollander reported knee soreness after Monday's start and underwent an MRI on Tuesday. The exact injury diagnosis isn't yet clear, but it's enough to bring his rookie season to a close. The 23-year-old struggled in his first taste of the majors, posting a 6.52 ERA and 1.55 WHIP with 82 strikeouts and 49 walks in 98 innings. Pitching in Coors Field will always be a struggle, but the former top prospect should get the chance to take a step forward in his sophomore year.

Jayden Reed Ruled Out with Shoulder Injury
Jayden Reed (shoulder) has been ruled out for the remainder of Thursday's contest against the Washington Commanders. Reed suffered this injury in the opening quarter after making a catch along the sidelines. While Reed was able to find the back of the end zone on this play, the reception was reversed due to a holding penalty. In Week 1, Reed caught three of his five targets for 45 yards and a score. Leading up to the start of the regular season, Reed was recovering from a Jones fracture and now may have another significant injury. Fantasy managers should continue to keep a close eye on his status leading up to Week 3. Romeo Doubs, Dontayvion Wicks, and Matthew Golden are expected to lead the WR room for the remainder of Thursday's game.

Browns Insider Expects NFL to "Come Down Heavy" on a Quinshon Judkins Suspension
Quinshon Judkins. Another Browns insider, Tony Grossi, noted that he expects the league to place a two-to-four game suspension on the young running back. The former second-round pick was arrested for domestic assault charges in the offseason. While his prosecutors did eventually drop the charges, Judkins met with league officials earlier this week regarding the incident. The Ohio State product signed his rookie contract last Saturday but was unable to suit up in their Week 1 contest against the Cincinnati Bengals. He was able to log a full practice on Thursday, but his status for Sunday's game against the Baltimore Ravens remains in doubt. Fantasy managers should continue to keep a close eye on his status, as a potential suspension would pave the way for fellow rookie Dylan Sampson to take the lead in the Cleveland backfield for an extended period.

MacKenzie Gore Solid in Return From Injury
MacKenzie Gore (5-14) was effective in his return from the 15-day injured list on Thursday. After missing two weeks with shoulder inflammation, Gore tossed five innings of two-run, four-hit ball and logged four strikeouts against two walks in a 5-0 loss to the Miami Marlins. The Nationals eased Gore back in, pulling him after 78 pitches (50 strikes), and he got no help from the Nats' offense. The 26-year-old now has a 4.14 ERA with a 1.34 WHIP and 177:57 K:BB over 152 1/3 innings this season. He's scheduled to take on the division-rival Atlanta Braves in his next start on Tuesday. It'll be the first time Gore has faced the Braves this year.
