Cleveland Browns defensive tackle Mike Hall (knee) had knee surgery this offseason, according to general manager Andrew Berry. Hall's injury will likely keep him from participating in the team's offseason workout program, and it remains to be seen if he'll be ready for the start of training camp at the end of July. The 21-year-old was selected in the second round (54th overall) in last year's NFL draft out of Ohio State, but he ended up playing in just eight games (three starts) in his rookie season due to a stinger, a knee injury and a five-game suspension for a domestic-violence issue. In his eight games played, Hall had 14 tackles (eight solo), on sack and six QB hits for the Browns. Even if Hall isn't quite ready to go for the start of the 2025 regular season, he should see more action on the defensive line in his sophomore season once he's ready.

The New England Patriots expect to have defensive tackle Christian Barmore (illness) in the fold when they begin their offseason workouts on Monday, April 7, according to head coach Mike Vrabel. It's great news for the interior of the team's defensive line, as Barmore entered the offseason with uncertainty after having a setback with his blood-clot diagnosis last year. The Patriots signed the 25-year-old to a four-year, $84 million extension in 2024 after he led the team in sacks (8.5) and QB hits (16) in 2023. But he was diagnosed with blood clots in his lungs right before the start of training camp last July and ended up playing in only four regular-season games. Barmore made his season debut in Week 11 but was shut down after experiencing "recurring symptoms" from blood clots. If healthy, Barmore will join forces with Milton Williams, and the two could create one of the best interior combinations in the NFL.

Green Bay Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst did not rule out the possibility of cornerback Jaire Alexander (knee) returning to the team in 2025 at this week's annual league meetings. When asked about Alexander potentially remaining in Green Bay, Gutekunst said, "It could be a possibility. Absolutely." The Packers have had talks about trading the 28-year-old defensive back this offseason, though, and they hope to have a resolution on his situation before the draft at the end of April. The two-time Pro Bowler has been a big part of Green Bay's secondary in his seven years with the team since debuting in 2018, but he's played in just 14 regular-season games the last two years due to injuries and had knee surgery in January. It's unlikely that Green Bay would be able to get much for Alexander due to his injuries and the fact that he has two years left on his current deal.

If the Tennessee Titans have indeed fallen in love with Miami quarterback Cam Ward, they may be unwilling to consider any trade offers for the first overall pick in this year's NFL draft. "I was taught over the years, if you find the quarterback that you want, and you think he's a franchise quarterback, then you're not going to pass on him," general manager Mike Borgonzi said. While Borgonzi isn't ruling anything out, he also said the Titans might not be open for business when teams come calling for the start of the first round on Thursday, April 24. The Athletic's Dianna Russini doesn't sense there's conviction yet for the Titans on what they want to do with the No. 1 overall pick, but regardless, Ward is considered the likely top pick this year. If they don't trade out of the top pick, Paul Kuharsky believes a trade of their second-round selection (35th overall) might be more likely.

Cincinnati Bengals head coach Zac Taylor called defensive end Trey Hendrickson a premier pass-rusher in the NFL and that the team is still working to sign him to a long-term contract extension this offseason. The Bengals gave Hendrickson, who is entering the final year of his current deal in 2025, permission to seek a trade in early March but also say they'd love to keep him around. It won't be easy, though. Not only will the 30-year-old command a new deal that should make him one of the highest-paid defensive players in the NFL, but the Bengals also recently locked up both receivers
Ja'Marr Chase and
Tee Higgins to long-term deals. If it looks like the sides are too far apart in the lead-up to this month's NFL draft, the Bengals could decide to trade Hendrickson, who has a whopping 35 sacks the last two years, to bolster their draft capital for this year and down the road.

FOX Sports' Jordan Schultz reports that it's his understanding that the tush-push ban is unlikely to have enough votes to be banned in 2025, and there's a better chance that discussions about the controversial play will be tabled for a future owners meeting. Some teams are advocating for the play to be banned, but one source said, "the current language in the proposal is just not clear enough and can easily be manipulated." The Green Bay Packers were the team that initially proposed the ban of the play that the Philadelphia Eagles run so well, and it earned the support of 16 NFL teams. However, NFL bylaws require a minimum of 24 votes to approve a change to a rule. It sounds like the topic will be revisited at the next owners meeting from May 20-21 in Minnesota. The Packers' proposal would prohibit an offensive player from immediately pushing a teammate who is lined up directly behind the snapper and receives the snap.

Detroit Lions defensive tackle Alim McNeill (knee) is expected to miss training camp and could miss the start of the regular season, according to head coach Dan Campbell. McNeill suffered a torn ACL in Week 14 of last season and sounds likely to end up on the Physically Unable To Perform (PUP) to begin the 2025 campaign. McNeill is one of the better interior defensive linemen in the NFL and has compiled 137 tackles (66 solo), 11.5 sacks, three pass deflections, and 24.5 run stuffs in 61 career games since being selected in the third round of the 2021 NFL Draft out of NC State. While it's not ideal for the 24-year-old to miss time early in the season, getting him back later in the year for another potential playoff run is the focus of the organization.

The Tennessee Titans have re-signed defensive back/special-teams ace Justin Hardee Sr., according to NFL.com. The 31-year-old signed with Tennessee in October of last year and played in nine games for the organization, totaling three tackles (two solo). Originally undrafted out of Illinois in 2017, Hardee has primarily been a special-teamer in his eight-year career with the New Orleans Saints, New York Jets, and Titans. He was named a Pro Bowler for his special teams work in 2022. Overall, Hardee has compiled 81 tackles (61 solo), one forced fumble, one interception, and two pass deflections in 109 career games.

Starting in 2025, kickoff touchbacks will now result in the ball being spotted at the 35-yard line instead of the 30-yard line after the NFL owners voted to change the rule on Tuesday, according to NFL.com. The dynamic kickoff debuted in 2024, and this is seen as an enhancement to the new-look kickoff. The league saw 332 more kickoff returns in 2024 compared to 2023, and the new field position is expected to discourage kickoff units from kicking the ball into the end zone. While this does not directly affect all fantasy football leagues, some leagues reward points to individual players for kickoff-return touchdowns, and there could be more special-teams touchdowns, leading to more fantasy scoring for D/ST units starting next season.

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has been negotiating directly with All-Pro pass-rusher Micah Parsons on a long-term contract extension and is offering him a contract that would make him the highest-paid non-quarterback in the NFL, according to DLLS Sports' Clarence Hill. The Cowboys have conducted all negotiations without Parsons' agent, David Mulugheta, and haven't talked with him since the scouting combine in late February. Parsons will not sign a new deal without his agent's approval, so this could be a sticking point in negotiations. The 25-year-old former 12th overall pick in 2021 out of Penn State has made the Pro Bowl in all four of his NFL seasons and has been a first-team All-Pro twice, having recorded a whopping 52.5 sacks in 63 regular-season games. Regardless of his contract situation, Parsons is an elite pass-rusher in IDP fantasy leagues.

The Houston Texans are signing former Indianapolis Colts linebacker E.J. Speed to a one-year, $5 million deal on Saturday, sources tell FOX Sports' Jordan Schultz. Speed will head to Houston after spending six seasons with the Colts. The 29-year-old former fifth-rounder (164th overall) in 2019 out of Tarleton State had a career year in 2024 in Indy, totaling 142 tackles (93 solo), seven tackles for loss, his first career interception and five passes defensed in 15 starts. Last year was the second straight season that Speed had 100-plus combined tackles, making him a staple in IDP fantasy leagues as he heads into his first year in Houston. Speed hasn't excelled in pass coverage, but he's proven to be a tackling machine and will be a notable addition to the middle of a Texans defense that was quite good overall last year.

The Buffalo Bills and cornerback Christian Benford reached an agreement on a four-year, $76 million contract extension on Saturday, according to Benford's management. Benford will stick around in Buffalo for another four years after Buffalo made him a sixth-round selection (185th overall) in the 2022 NFL draft out of Villanova. The 24-year-old defensive back has continued to improve in each of his first three seasons in the NFL, culminating in a strong performance in 2024 in which he had a career-high 64 tackles (50 solo), his first career sack, two interceptions, 10 pass breakups, two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery in 15 regular-season starts. The Bills are hoping that Benford will continue to improve as a key member of their secondary for years to come. In his three NFL seasons, he has 142 tackles (110 solo), one sack, seven tackles for loss, five interceptions and 25 pass breakups in 39 games (34 starts).

The Baltimore Ravens announced on Friday that they reached a three-year contract extension with head coach John Harbaugh. The new deal will keep the 62-year-old in Baltimore through the 2028 season. He was entering the final year of his previous contract that he had signed back in March of 2022, and it will continue a trend of the Ravens not allowing Harbaugh to start a regular season on the final year of his contract since he was initially hired in 2008. He is already the franchise's all-time winningest head coach with a 185-115 record over 17 seasons. His 12 playoff appearances are second-most in the NFL behind KC's Andy Reid (14), and he also led the team to a Super Bowl victory in 2012. Harbaugh is the second-longest tenured coach behind only the Steelers' Mike Tomlin. Although Harbaugh has had plenty of success in Baltimore, the Ravens have only gone past the Divisional Round once since winning the Super Bowl 12 years ago.

The New England Patriots are expected to release linebacker Ja'Whaun Bentley (pectoral) on Friday, according to ESPN Boston's Mike Reiss. The three-time captain has spent all seven of his NFL seasons with the Patriots but will be now be looking for a new team after suffering a torn pectoral muscle in Week 2 of the 2024 season against the Seattle Seahawks. The 28-year-old former fifth-rounder (143rd overall) in 2018 out of Purdue broke a three-year streak of 100-plus combined tackles in 2024 because of his pec injury. Bentley missed just two regular-season games from 2021 to 2023 and was extremely productive when he was on the field for the Patriots during that time, so he shouldn't have much trouble finding a new team as long as he's fully recovered from his pectoral injury. Bentley has 509 career tackles (280 solo), 10.5 sacks, 21 tackles for loss, 29 QB hits, two interceptions, 11 pass breakups, four forced fumbles and a fumble recovery in 83 games (68 starts) over seven seasons.

The Kansas City Chiefs announced on Thursday that they re-signed cornerback Nazeeh Johnson to an undisclosed deal. Johnson will stick around with the Chiefs for secondary depth after originally being taken in the seventh round (259th overall) by KC in 2022 out of Marshall. The 26-year-old defensive back did not play at all in 2023 and has 64 tackles (38 solo), one sack and three pass breakups in 27 games (six starts) in his two NFL seasons, with 56 of those tackles coming in 16 regular-season games (six starts) last year. Johnson is far off the fantasy radar in IDP leagues, but he should retain his rotational role in the Chiefs' secondary in 2025 while also contributing on special teams.
