Mets Place Jesse Winker On 10-Day Injured List With Oblique Strain
The New York Mets announced on Monday that they placed outfielder Jesse Winker (oblique) on the 10-day injured list with a right-oblique strain and recalled infielder Brett Baty from Triple-A Syracuse in aread more...
Mets Recall Brett Baty From Triple-A
Brett Baty from Triple-A Syracuse on Monday before their series opener in the desert against the hosting Arizona Diamondbacks. The Mets optioned Baty to Syracuse on April 24, but only because of a roster crunch upon Jeff McNeil's return from the injured list. The 25-year-old had been dealing with a sore right toe in recent days, but it wasn't severe enough to prevent his call-up. Baty had three hits in his 10 at-bats with Syracuse and will return to a .204/.246/.352 slash line in the big leagues with a homer, four RBI, four runs scored and a stolen base. The former top prospect just hasn't been able to put it all together at the big-league level since debuting in 2022, and he'll serve as infield depth at both second and third base behind McNeill and Mark Vientos. Baty can be ignored in most mixed fantasy leagues.Source: SNY - Andy Martino
The New York Mets are recalling infielder Nolan Gorman Back In Lineup After Suffering Finger Laceration
Nolan Gorman (finger) suffered a left index-finger laceration in the second inning of the first game of a doubleheader on Sunday against the New York Mets when Willson Contreras stepped on his glove hand. The 24-year-old was checked by a trainer and remained in the contest before eventually being removed in the ninth inning for a defensive replacement. Gorman is back at second base and is hitting sixth in Monday's series opener against the division-rival Pittsburgh Pirates and right-hander Carmen Mlodzinski after he sat out of Game 2 of Sunday's doubleheader. The former first-rounder (19th overall) in 2018 has been a non-factor for fantasy managers so far in 2025, as he's hitting just .167 (10-for-60) with a homer, nine RBI, nine runs scored and 21 strikeouts in 20 games played.Source: St. Louis Post-Dispatch - Daniel Guerrero
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch's Daniel Guerrero reports that St. Louis Cardinals infielder Declan Cronin Progressing In Rehab Assignment
Declan Cronin (hip) has been progressing well in his rehab assignment. According to Kevin Barral of Fish on First, the right-hander is set to throw a pitch design on Tuesday. Cronin has been sidelined on the 15-day injured list since March. Cronin has made three rehab appearances with Triple-A Jacksonville. In each appearance, Cronin logged just one inning of work. Across three total frames, the 27-year-old has allowed two runs (one earned) and has struck out four batters. Last season, the Holy Cross product logged a career-high 70 1/3 innings and held a 4.35 ERA with a 1.42 WHIP. He was deployed exclusively out of the bullpen. When he is cleared to return, fantasy managers should expect Cronin to operate in a middle relief role.Source: Kevin Barral
Miami Marlins right-handed pitcher Cardinals Calling Up Gordon Graceffo
Gordon Graceffo, and he will operate out of the bullpen. Graceffo is back with the major-league club after allowing just one earned run while walking none and striking out five in five innings for his first big-league win in an outstanding spot start last Wednesday against the Cincinnati Reds. The 25-year-old former fifth-rounder in 2021 out of Villanova is the team's No. 16 prospect, per MLB Pipeline. Graceffo hasn't been quite as good on the farm in four starts (17 1/3 innings) for Triple-A Memphis, though, as he's sporting a 5.71 ERA ad 1.09 WHIP with 16 strikeouts and five walks. For the time being, Graceffo will pitch in a long-relief role out of St. Louis' bullpen, which won't give him any real fantasy appeal in redraft leagues.Source: The Athletic - Katie Woo
The Athletic's Katie Woo reports that the St. Louis Cardinals are calling up right-handed pitching prospect Ryan Weathers Throwing Pitch Design On Tuesday
Ryan Weathers (forearm) is set to throw a pitch design on Tuesday. Weathers has been sidelined since March due to a forearm strain. He was placed on the 15-day injured list on March 27. However, he quickly began a throwing progression and was able to make his first minor-league rehab start on April 28. In his first rehab outing with Low-A Jupiter, Weathers was sharp and tossed three no-hit innings. He struck out six batters. However, in his second outing, he was moved up to Triple-A but took a step back and allowed two runs across 2 2/3 innings of work. Fantasy managers should keep a close eye on his status, as he could be cleared to make his 2025 season debut sometime next week. When he does get cleared to return, he would be worth adding in all standard formats after posting a 3.63 ERA with a 1.18 WHIP across 86 2/3 innings last summer.Source: Kevin Barral
Miami Marlins left-handed pitcher Eury Perez Making Another Rehab Start In Jupiter On Tuesday
Eury Perez (elbow) is set to make another rehab outing with Low-A Jupiter on Tuesday. Perez is currently on the 60-day injured list and working his way back from Tommy John surgery. The team noted that the budding ace is scheduled to make at least eight rehab outings before being in contention to return to the big leagues. So far, the former top prospect has made two rehab outings with Low-A. Across two 2/3 innings of work, Perez has allowed just one hit and held a 4:1 K:BB. He has not allowed a run. The 22-year-old made his MLB debut during the 2023 campaign and flashed high upside as he held a 3.15 ERA with a 1.13 WHIP. He struck out 108 batters and generated an elite .208 xBA. He is worth monitoring as he could be a must-start option in the second half of the campaign.Source: Kevin Barral
Miami Marlins starting pitcher Cade Horton An Option To Join Cubs Starting Rotation
Cade Horton is an option to take left-hander Shota Imanaga's (hamstring) place in the big-league starting rotation after the team placed Imanaga on the 15-day injured list on Monday. In addition to Horton, veteran right-hander Chris Flexen is stretched out in a long-relief role and is another option, although he isn't nearly as intriguing for fantasy purposes. Horton was the former seventh overall pick in 2022 out of Oklahoma and is considered the club's No. 2 prospect, per MLB Pipeline. While Flexen might have the upper hand to make a start this weekend against the New York Mets because he's on the 40-man roster, Horton represents the much better speculative waiver-wire pickup. The 23-year-old has posted a strong 1.24 ERA, 0.86 WHIP and 33:13 K:BB in 29 innings for Triple-A Iowa to begin the 2025 season.Source: Chicago Sun-Times - Maddie Lee
Chicago Cubs manager Craig Counsell said that right-handed itching prospect MacKenzie Gore Dealing With Sore Ankle
MacKenzie Gore (ankle) is dealing with a sore ankle, but he's feeling a lot better. Gore slipped on a wet mound during his outing on Sunday against the Cincinnati Reds in the fifth inning, but he appears to have avoided a serious injury and should be able to make his next scheduled start this Sunday versus the St. Louis Cardinals. The 26-year-old southpaw and former third overall pick by the San Diego Padres in 2017 picked up a no-decision on Sunday against the Reds by allowing one earned run on four hits while walking four and striking out nine in five innings of work. Gore has looked good in his third year with the Nats and has posted a career-best 3.33 ERA (2.72 FIP) and 1.15 WHIP with a league-high 68 K's and 13 walks in eight starts over 46 innings. Start Gore on Sunday if he's cleared.Source: The Washington Post - Andrew Golden
Washington Nationals manager Dave Martinez said on Monday that left-hander Derek Hill Going Through Full Baseball Activities
Derek Hill (wrist) is going through full baseball activities. Hill has been sidelined since April with a left wrist sprain. Hill was officially shifted to the 10-day injured list on April 18. Fantasy managers should continue monitoring his progression, but it appears Hill is nearing a rehab assignment. Given the time he missed, Hill may only need a brief assignment before returning to Miami. Before his injury, Hill held a .167/.239/.286 slash line with one home run and three stolen bases. Under the hood, Hill generated a modest .224 xBA and a .289 xwOBA but placed in the 97th percentile in sprint speed. When he does return, he should compete for an everyday role in center field alongside Dane Myers and Jesus Sanchez.Source: Kevin Barral
Miami Marlins outfielder Walker Buehler Thinks He'll Have Minimal Injured-List Stint
Boston Red Sox right-hander Walker Buehler (shoulder) said he's doing well and dealing with minor bursitis in his right shoulder. Buehler added that if it was late in the season, he'd push through it, but sinceread more...
Freddy Peralta Might Get An Extra Day Of Rest
Freddy Peralta (groin) has not undergone any imaging, but the team may opt to give him an extra day or two to rest. Peralta exited Sunday's contest early due to groin soreness. However, given this report, it seems the right-hander avoided a significant injury. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status throughout the week in case he faces a setback. On Sunday, Peralta logged six shutout innings against the Cubs. He allowed just four hits, one walk, and struck out seven batters. Through 45 1/3 innings of work this season, the 28-year-old has posted an impressive 2.18 ERA with a strong 1.04 WHIP. If Peralta were to need an additional period to rest, Quinn Priester could be given a start, as he was deployed in a long relief role over the weekend.Source: Curt Hogg
Milwaukee Brewers starting pitcher Spencer Strider Moves To Long Toss, Still No Timetable For A Return
Spencer Strider (hamstring) progressed to throwing long toss over the weekend, which is another key step towards his return from the 15-day injured list. However, The Athletic's David O'Brien reports there's still no timetable for his return. Strider, who got a late start to the 2025 campaign after having an internal-brace procedure on his right elbow last April, made it through one start before going back on the IL with a right-hamstring strain. It's been that kind of a season so far for the Braves. Since the 26-year-old has yet to throw off a mound, fantasy managers should probably expect his return to be a couple of weeks off. Strider will almost certainly need a minor-league rehab assignment before returning to Atlanta's starting rotation. Keep the former All-Star stashed in an IL spot in all fantasy leagues.Source: The Athletic - David O'Brien
Atlanta Braves right-hander Ronald Acuna Jr. Will Begin Rehab Assignment In May
Ronald Acuna Jr. (knee) is expected to begin a rehab assignment this month. Justin Toscano of the Atlanta-Journal Constitution reported that Acuna does not need to visit his doctor again and that a rehab assignment date is "up to the team." This is a significant step in his recovery process as the superstar could be set to return to game action in the coming weeks. Has been sidelined since last May after suffering a torn ACL. In 2023, Acuna enjoyed an incredible campaign as he hit 41 home runs, swiped 73 bags, and held a .337/.413/.596 slash line en route to winning the NL MVP. Before his injury last season, Acuna held a .250/.351/.365 line and added four home runs with 16 stolen bases. When he does return, he will carry high-end OF1 upside, given his ability to contribute to all five categories.Source: Justin Toscano
Atlanta Braves outfielder Austin Hays Could Return On Friday
Austin Hays (hamstring) is doing really well in his rehab from a strained left hamstring and could return from the injured list on Friday. As long as Hays doesn't suffer a setback in the next few days, he could skip a minor-league rehab assignment and rejoin the club for their series opener on Friday in Houston against the Astros. Injuries have been the story of the 29-year-old's season so far in 2025, but when he's been on the field, he's been fantasy worthy in all formats, slashing .365/.431/.712 with five long balls, 13 RBI, 15 runs scored and a stolen base in just 13 games played. When Hays is back, expect him to continue playing regularly for Cincy in left field. Until then, rookie Tyler Callihan and Blake Dunn should continue to split playing time for the Reds in left field.Source: The Cincinnati Enquirer - Charlie Goldsmith
Cincinnati Reds manager Terry Francona said that outfielder
