Eugenio Suarez Launches Two More Homers on Sunday
Eugenio Suarez. The 34-year-old went deep twice for the second game in a row in a 5-3 win over the St. Louis Cardinals on Sunday. Suarez smashed a three-run bomb in the first inning and added a solo shot in the third, upping his National League-leading total to 35. He finished the game 2-for-4 to improve his line to .257/.328/.601 with 85 RBI and 63 runs scored in 403 plate appearances. Suarez now leads all of baseball in RBI and ranks behind only Aaron Judge, Cal Raleigh, and Shohei Ohtani in slugging percentage. It's not often a hitter of that caliber switches teams during the season, but it could happen with rumors swirling around Suarez leading up to the July 31 trade deadline.Source: ESPN
Another day, another two home runs for Arizona Diamondbacks third baseman Leodalis De Vries Homers, Drives in Two on Sunday
Leodalis De Vries went 2-for-4, including a walk, a home run, two RBI, and two runs scored on Sunday for High-A Fort Wayne. The Padres' top-ranked prospect is hitting better as of late, going 12-for-43 (.279) with four doubles, a triple, and two home runs in July. For the season, the switch-hitter is slashing .248/.359/.414 with seven home runs, and is posting better-than-average strikeout (20.3 percent) and walk rates (13.9 percent). The Dominican is doing this against pitchers more advanced than him, currently just 18 years of age, making it all the more impressive. The 6-foot-1 slugger has a bright future, which is one reason he is the third-ranked prospect in all of baseball, although he's still a couple of years away from the majors.Source: MiLB.com
San Diego Padres shortstop prospect Jace LaViolette Not Expected to Play Affiliated Ball in 2025
Source: MLB.com
Cleveland Guardians outfield prospect Jace LaViolette is not likely to play affiliated baseball for the Guardians this year, according to Guardians team president Chris Antonetti. The team's first-round pick in this year's MLB Draft broke his left hand during the SEC Tournament and subsequently underwent surgery, but was able to continue playing afterward. The Texas A&M product recently had a cleanup procedure on that same hand, which is why he's not expected to begin affiliated play this year. Despite that, the 21-year-old is expected to head to the team's player development complex in Arizona later this summer. Hopefully this will get his hand right and he can hit the ground running in 2026, as the youngster has some big-time power in his 6-foot-6 frame. Will Vest Spotless in Second-Half Debut
Will Vest mowed down the Texas Rangers for his 16th save in a 2-1 win on Sunday. Making his first appearance in a week, the right-hander entered with the bases empty and two outs in the bottom of the eighth inning. Vest fanned Wyatt Langford to end the frame and then pitched a 1-2-3 ninth with another strikeout to take down Texas. He needed just nine pitches to record four outs. The 30-year-old lowered his ERA to 2.23 with a 0.99 WHIP and 50:15 K:BB in 44 1/3 innings. With fellow Tigers reliever Tommy Kahnle in the throes of a July meltdown (14 earned runs allowed in 3 1/3 innings), Vest has a firm hold on the closer's job.Source: ESPN
Detroit Tigers reliever Dodgers Interested in Several Notable Relievers
The Los Angeles Dodgers are eyeing several established relievers as the July 31 trade deadline approaches, according to Bob Nightengale of USA Today. They've had discussions centering onSpencer Jones Mashes Two More Home Runs on Sunday
Spencer Jones went 4-for-5 with a double, two home runs, and four runs scored on Sunday for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. The 6-foot-7 slugger is scorching for the RailRiders, homering in three straight contests and now hitting .426 with ten home runs and a smoldering 1.422 OPS through 16 games at Triple-A. The Yanks' second-ranked prospect still has an elevated strikeout rate of 26.6 percent, but with this type of power display, it shouldn't hinder his chances of receiving a call-up in the coming weeks. Managers in deep leagues and AL-only leagues should consider stashing the 24-year-old ahead of an eventual call-up, which could come sooner rather than later at this type of pace.Source: MiLB.com
New York Yankees outfield prospect Pavin Smith Taking Dry Swings
Pavin Smith (oblique) has begun taking dry swings as he works back from a strained right oblique. The Diamondbacks still don't have a timetable to return for Smith, who landed on the 10-day injured list on July 6. Playing almost exclusively against right-handed pitchers, the lefty-swinging Smith has hit .261/.371/.446 with eight home runs, 28 RBI, and 33 runs scored in 264 plate appearances this season. Smith has mostly functioned as a DH, where the Diamondbacks have rotated players during his absence. Catcher Adrian Del Castillo has started three straight games there since the team recalled him from Triple-A Reno.Source: MLB.com
Arizona Diamondbacks designated hitter/first baseman Chris Martin Suffers Calf Strain, Takes Loss on Sunday
Chris Martin (calf) left early in a 2-1 loss to the Detroit Tigers on Sunday after suffering a calf strain, Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News reports. It truly added injury to insult for Martin, who fell to 1-6 on the season after giving up an earned run on three hits in two-thirds of an inning. Martin's injury forced him to exit in the top of the eighth after allowing a go-ahead RBI single to Matt Vierling. He's likely ticketed for a trip to the 15-day injured list, according to Grant. If Martin does go on the IL, it'll cost Texas a dependable late-game option for at least two weeks. The 39-year-old has pitched to a sterling 2.36 ERA with 36:6 K:BB, 12 holds, and two saves over 34 1/3 innings.Source: Evan Grant - Dallas Morning News

Eduardo Tait Heading to High-A Jersey Shore
Eduardo Tait is getting promoted to High-A Jersey Shore. The Phils' fourth-ranked prospect was having a solid season at Single-A before his promotion, slashing .251/.322/.436 with 11 home runs and 51 RBI, both of which were tops in the Florida State League. The left-handed slugger also logged a 19.3 percent strikeout rate and a 9.0 percent walk rate, both of which are slightly better than average. Impressively, the Panamanian did all that at just 18 years of age, so it will be interesting to see how he fares at the next level. He figures to be a few years away from an MLB debut, however.Source: MiLB Central
Philadelphia Phillies catching prospect Chase DeLauter to Visit Hand Specialist this Week
Chase DeLauter is expected to visit a hand specialist early in the coming week. The former first-round draft pick has been out of action since July 11 with a wrist injury, and the fact he's meeting with a specialist doesn't bode well for a quick return, although details have been scarce as to what is ailing the left-handed slugger other than he was dealing with soreness. The Guardians' second-ranked prospect missed time over the last couple of seasons due to foot injuries and missed the start of 2025 after he underwent sports hernia surgery, so this has become a problematic trend for the 23-year-old. He was having a good season at Triple-A in his limited sample, slashing .278/.383/.476 with five home runs in 34 games, and looked like he was on the precipice of a major league debut, but those hopes could fade drastically depending on what comes of the upcoming visit with the specialist. We should have more clarity later in the week.Source: MLB.com
Cleveland Guardians outfield prospect Shelby Miller Throws Bullpen, Return Timeline Still Unclear
Shelby Miller (forearm) threw a 24-pitch bullpen session on Saturday as he continues his recovery from a flexor tendon strain sustained on July 5. While there's still no official return date, this step is an encouraging sign for both Miller and the Diamondbacks team, pushing to stay in the playoff hunt. Miller has been dominant when healthy, posting a 1.98 ERA, 28% strikeout rate, and holding opposing hitters to a .190 batting average. He remains a must-roster reliever in all formats, offering elite ratios and potential for saves or holds once activated.Source: Alex Weiner
Arizona Diamondbacks right-hander German Marquez Exits Early With Shoulder Issue, Considered Day-To-Day
German Marquez (shoulder) was pulled after just three innings in Sunday's 7-1 loss to the Minnesota Twins. He allowed three runs on four hits and four walks while striking out two across three innings. The 30-year-old is now (3-11) on the season and is believed to be dealing with right shoulder inflammation, an issue that reportedly began after his July 11 start and lingered through the All-Star break. Marquez could miss his next turn in the rotation, potentially forcing a bullpen game for Colorado. With a 5.67 ERA over 20 starts and just 73 strikeouts in 98 1/3 innings, Marquez should be avoided in all fantasy formats, along with the rest of the Rockies' rotation. UPDATE: Marquez is undergoing an MRI exam on Monday.Source: Thomas Harding
Colorado Rockies right-hander Blake Treinen Dominant in Rehab Outing, Nearing Dodgers Return
Blake Treinen (forearm) looked sharp in a rehab appearance Sunday for Triple-A Oklahoma City, striking out two in a clean 15-pitch inning. The veteran reliever is closing in on a return to a Dodgers bullpen that has struggled with consistency and injuries. Before landing on the injured list, he racked up two saves while posting a 3.38 ERA, 1.38 WHIP, and 10 strikeouts across eight innings. Treinen is a strong stash candidate for fantasy managers in need of saves or holds, and he could soon challenge Alex Vesia, Ben Casparius, and Tanner Scott for high-leverage opportunities in Los Angeles.Source: Howard Cole
Los Angeles Dodgers right-hander Blake Snell Sharp in Second Rehab Start, Nearing Return
Blake Snell (shoulder) took another step forward in his recovery, tossing four solid innings in his second rehab outing with Triple-A Oklahoma City. Snell allowed one earned run on four hits and one walk, throwing 58 pitches in the appearance. The two-time Cy Young Award winner has logged only two starts for the Dodgers this season after signing a five-year, $182 million deal this offseason. Barring setbacks, Snell is expected to return in late July, potentially providing a key boost to a Dodgers rotation that has been hit hard by injuries.Source: Fabian Ardaya
