Freddie Freeman Day-to-Day After Negative Wrist X-Rays
Freddie Freeman (wrist) exited the team's 6-5 loss to the Milwaukee Brewers early on Sunday after taking a pitch off his left wrist. X-rays came back negative on Freeman, who's day-to-day with a wrist contusion, Sonja Chen of MLB.com reports. Manager Dave Roberts said after the game that the club "dodged a bullet." Freeman could still miss time, which may lead to more action at first base for Miguel Rojas. He shifted from second to first when Freeman left in the bottom of the sixth inning, while Hyeseong Kim came off the bench to handle the keystone. Freeman went 0-for-2 with two strikeouts Sunday to continue a prolonged slump. The nine-time All-Star has gone an awful 30-for-151 (.199) with one home run, 11 RBI, and 47:14 K:BB in 40 games since June 1. Thanks to a sizzling start, Freeman is still hitting a solidly above-average .292/.365/.471 with 10 homers, 47 RBI, and 49 runs scored in 367 plate appearances.
