Nathan Eovaldi Listed as Probable Starter for Friday
Nathan Eovaldi (back) as their probable start for Friday's series opener against the Atlanta Braves, according to Kennedi Landry of MLB.com. Eovaldi will be followed by young pitchers Kumar Rocker and Jack Leiter on Saturday and Sunday, respectively. The 35-year-old veteran will be making his return to the mound after he was scratched from his last start last weekend with back tightness. Eovaldi will have had ample rest, he last pitched before the All-Star break, and he'll be facing a Braves team that isn't all that scary outside of Ronald Acuna Jr. in the lineup. Atlanta ranks 19th in MLB in OPS at .706, while Eovaldi has been lights-out in his 16 starts for Texas this year with a 7-3 record, 1.58 ERA, 0.85 WHIP and 94 strikeouts in 91 innings pitched. Still, there will be more risk involved with Eovaldi in his first start back.
