Boston Red Sox third baseman
Alex Bregman (quadriceps) is "feeling great," and his six-week reassessment is coming this weekend, according to the Boston Herald's Gabrielle Starr. "The way he's talking about it he's close to 100 percent," manager Alex Cora said. While Bregman has made excellent progress and feels great, we already know that the BoSox plan on holding him out until the start of the second half of the season on July 18. Until then, rookie
Marcelo Mayer will continue to serve as Boston's third baseman against right-handed pitchers. Fantasy managers will be hoping that Bregman can continue to lean into his power when he comes off the injured list, as he was hitting a strong .299 (59-for-197) with 11 home runs, 35 RBI, 32 runs scored and a steal in his first 51 games with Boston before his quad injury.

San Francisco Giants manager Bob Melvin said that it's possible that third baseman
Matt Chapman (hand) returns for the entire homestand, which begins on Monday, July 7, against the Philadelphia Phillies. Chapman was scheduled to take batting practice on Monday before the series opener against the Arizona Diamondbacks. The Giants had been aiming for the last series before the All-Star break for Chapman's return from the 10-day injured list, but he's apparently making good progress and will push to be back before then.
Casey Schmitt (hand) landed on the IL on Monday, so
Christian Koss is now the team's starting third baseman until Chapman can return next week. The 32-year-old Chapman has been out since June 8 with a right-hand sprain but is close to a return. If he was dropped in your fantasy league, now is the time to pick him up.

Texas Rangers president of baseball operations Chris Young said that the team expects outfielder
Wyatt Langford (oblique) to return from the 10-day injured list before Saturday's game against the hosting San Diego Padres. Langford will likely start his minor-league rehab assignment on Wednesday. Barring a setback on his rehab assignment, the 23-year-old will have a minimal stay on the IL, which is music to his fantasy managers' ears. The former first-rounder out of Florida will return to regular starting duties for the Rangers in left field to close out the first half of the season. Langford hits the ball very hard when he makes contact and has plenty of power/speed upside for fantasy managers, but he's in the 37th percentile for whiff rate and has already dealt with multiple oblique injuries, dating back to spring training. He's currently slashing .232/.308/.421 with 13 homers, 31 RBI and 11 steals.

Texas Rangers first baseman
Jake Burger (oblique) will start his minor-league rehab assignment on Tuesday and should be ready to return from the 10-day injured list for the start of the team's road trip this weekend in San Diego against the Padres, according to Jeff Wilson. President of baseball operations Chris Young thinks Burger will be back on Friday. The 29-year-old Burger has been out since June 21 with a strained left oblique. The former first-rounder by the Chicago White Sox in 2017 out of Missouri State has plenty of power but also a lot of swing and miss to his game. Burger has 10 homers in 236 at-bats and is hitting .220 (52-for-236) in his first year in Texas. He was briefly sent down to the minors amid a slump earlier this year, but he should see regular playing time when he's back between first base and designated hitter.

Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder
Corbin Carroll (wrist) will start taking dry swings on Tuesday, according to manager Torey Lovullo. Carroll was placed on the 10-day injured list on June 24 with a chip fracture in his left wrist. While it's a good sign that he's already going to start swinging a bat this week, the 24-year-old former National League Rookie of the Year still has a ways to go and isn't going to be ready to rejoin the big-league roster when the second half of the season kicks off on July 18. The former first-rounder should be stashed in an IL spot in all fantasy leagues as one of the best all-around fantasy assets in the game. Before his injury, he was slashing .255/.341/.573 with a .914 OPS, 20 home runs, 44 RBI, 57 runs and 10 steals in 286 at-bats.

Baltimore Orioles left-hander
Cade Povich (hip) is dealing with more left-hip soreness and has been pulled off of his minor-league rehab assignment, according to The Baltimore Banner's Andy Kostka. The next step for Povich is to be determined. The setback essentially means that Povich will not be a candidate to rejoin Baltimore's starting rotation before the mid-July All-Star break. The 25-year-old southpaw threw 75 pitches in a rehab start with Triple-A Norfolk last Thursday but apparently didn't recover well from that outing and will now be given some time to rest. Brandon Young will make another spot start against the Texas Rangers on Tuesday and could stick around in the big leagues up until the All-Star break now that Povich has had a setback. Povich has increased his strikeout rate and lowered his walk rate in his second big-league season but still sports an ERA over 5.00.

Baltimore Orioles infielder
Jorge Mateo (elbow, hamstring) was pulled from his minor-league rehab game on Sunday night with Triple-A Norfolk due to a hamstring injury, according to The Baltimore Banner's Andy Kostka. The team continues to evaluate his hamstring and doesn't know the severity just yet. The 30-year-old initially landed on the 10-day injured list with inflammation in his left elbow and had gone 6-for-13 with a home run, four RBI and two stolen bases in his four rehab games with Norfolk. Depending on the severity of Mateo's hamstring injury, he might not be able to return from the IL until after the mid-July All-Star break on July 18. The Dominican infielder really is only fantasy relevant in AL-only leagues when he's healthy for his speed as a backup infielder for the O's. He's gone 11-for-61 (.180) on the year with a homer, three RBI, seven runs and 14 stolen bases.

Baltimore Orioles outfielder
Tyler O'Neill (shoulder) is reporting to Triple-A Norfolk on his minor-league rehab assignment, and the Orioles think he could be reinstated from the 10-day injured list on their current road trip, which ends this Sunday, July 6. In six rehab games, O'Neill has gone 4-for-18 with a home run and nine strikeouts as he rehabs from a left-shoulder injury that he suffered in early June. The 30-year-old Canadian has had a miserable first year in Baltimore to this point, playing in only 24 games and going 15-for-80 (.188) at the plate with two home runs, 10 RBI, two steals and 27 strikeouts in 93 trips to the plate. When he does come off the IL, O'Neill should see regular playing time for the O's in left field as he tries to stay on the field and turn things around offensively. O'Neill has two 30-homer seasons in his career, with one of them coming in 2024 with the Boston Red Sox.

Jordan Westburg (finger) said his injured left index finger won't be 100 percent for a while, according to MASN's Roch Kubatko. Westburg is shooting for "good enough," though, and is hoping to return to the starting lineup in a day or two. The 26-year-old infielder aggravated his finger injury in Friday's series opener against the Tampa Bay Rays and hasn't played since. It's not great news for his fantasy managers, but Westburg was able to swing a bat on Sunday and could be back in the starting lineup as the series against the Rangers in Texas continues on Tuesday. Charlie Morton (elbow) will have his next start pushed back to Friday in Atlanta against the Braves due to low-grade elbow tendinitis, according to MASN's Roch Kubatko. Rookie right-hander
Brandon Young will make the start on Tuesday, his fourth in the big leagues, against the Texas Rangers. If the 41-year-old Morton is cleared to go by Friday, he'll be a pretty risky fantasy option despite facing off against a Braves team that has struggled to score runs in 2025. Morton does have 77 strikeouts in 72 innings pitched over his 18 outings (12 starts) this year, but he's also sporting a 5.63 ERA (4.42 FIP) and 1.57 WHIP in 72 innings pitched. The veteran hurler was better in five starts in June, though, allowing over three earned runs in an outing just once while striking out 32 and walking eight in 25 innings.

According to Patrick Lyons, Fernandez is set to join the Rockies roster ahead of Tuesday's game against the Houston Astros. The 22-year-old prospect is hitting .284/.347/.502 with 13 home runs and 39 RBI across 64 games in Triple-A this season. Fernandez has some serious power with two 20-plus home run seasons during his minor league career. He should have some fun hitting in Coors Field, but there might be some growing pains in the beginning. Tyler Mahle (shoulder) is dealing with a rotator-cuff strain, according to Rangers' president of baseball operations Chris Young. Mahle was placed on the injured list on June 12 due to shoulder soreness. It seems like a fairly significant injury that has stopped Mahle from throwing for now. The team is having Mahle rest right now, so his return to the mound isn't on the horizon. There is no timetable for his return, but some point in July seems possible.

Ziaire Williams is expected to sign a two-year, $12 million contract to stay with the Nets. Over the weekend, the organization declined Williams's $8.35 million qualifying offer. He would have become an unrestricted free agent, but the two sides have since come to terms on a two-year deal. The 23-year-old finished with 10.0 points, 4.6 rebounds, 1.6 three-pointers, 1.3 assists and 1.0 steals in 24.5 minutes per game across 63 outings last season.

Brandon Young from Triple-A Norfolk in a corresponding move. Eflin injured his back during his start on Saturday against the Tampa Bay Rays and will now be out through the All-Star break. It remains to be seen if the 31-year-old veteran will be ready for his first turn through the rotation to start the second half in late July. Eflin has not been very reliable for fantasy managers in his first full season in Baltimore, recording a bloated 5.95 ERA (5.72 FIP) and 1.43 WHIP with only 42 strikeouts and 11 walks in 62 innings pitched over his 12 starts. Philadelphia Phillies right-handed pitching prospect
Andrew Painter will be on the roster for the MLB Futures Game during the All-Star break, but he will not be pitching. The Phillies want to keep Painter on their plan, according to manager Rob Thomson. Painter is still on the comeback trail after having Tommy John surgery in July of 2023, and although he has already made 13 starts with Single-A Clearwater and Triple-A Lehigh Valley this year, the Phillies are taking it slow with the No. 5 overall prospect in baseball, per MLB Pipeline. The 22-year-old former first-rounder in 2021 should already be stashed in all dynasty/keeper leagues, and he could become a priority addition in redraft leagues as well if he joins Philly's starting rotation in the second half of 2025. Painter currently has a 4.18 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 57:19 K:BB in 51 2/3 innings on the farm.

Hunter Greene (back, groin) is scheduled to throw a bullpen session in Boston on Wednesday, according to FOX 19's Charlie Goldsmith. If Greene comes out of that session fine, he'll throw again in Philadelphia before embarking on a minor-league rehab assignment. The 25-year-old's rehab process from a back and groin injury has gone well, but fantasy managers should not expect to have him back until the start of the second half of the season in late July. He last made a start for the Reds on June 3 versus the Milwaukee Brewers. Despite the long layoff, Greene is deserving of being stashed in an IL spot in all fantasy leagues. Before his injury, the hard-throwing hurler had gone 4-3 with a 2.72 ERA and 0.97 WHIP with 73 strikeouts and 14 walks in 59 2/3 innings over his 11 starts as the Reds' ace.

Atlanta Braves right-hander
Spencer Strider gave up two runs and five hits in seven innings in the loss to the Philadelphia Phillies on Sunday, his longest start since September of 2023. Strider had only four strikeouts, though, the first time he had fewer than six K's in nine career starts of seven frames or more. The 26-year-old's velocity isn't quite what it was before he had elbow surgery in April of last year, but he has improved his fastball velocity steadily while also improving his secondary pitches. He has a 2.25 ERA in his last four starts and an MLB-leading 33 K's in 24 innings during that span after having a 5.40 ERA in his first five starts in 2025. While Strider's 2025 season has been far from perfect, he could easily return to his pre-injury form in the second half and be a fantasy ace. Fantasy managers should lock him into their lineups for his next outing against the Baltimore Orioles.
