Nolan Arenado Back in Action Versus Orioles
Nolan Arenado (ribs) is manning the hot corner and batting sixth for Tuesday's game in Baltimore against the Orioles and right-hander Tomoyuki Sugano. Arenado was dealing with sore ribs after falling into the crowd to make a catch on Sunday and sat out of Monday's series opener at Camden Yards as a precaution. Now that the 34-year-old is back in there, fantasy managers can get him back into their starting lineups. Arenado's decline in offensive production has continued into the 2025 season, as he enters Tuesday's contest sporting a .234/.306/.378 slash line with a below-average .684 OPS, five home runs, 25 RBI, 23 runs scored and one steal in 188 at-bats. In his last nine games since May 16, Arenado has gone 5-for-34 (.147) with a home run, triple, eight RBI, two runs scored and six strikeouts. He has never faced Sugano in his career.Source: MLB.com
St. Louis Cardinals third baseman Cedric Mullins Out Against Right-Hander
Cedric Mullins is starting Tuesday's game against the visiting St. Louis Cardinals at Camden Yards on the bench in favor of Jorge Mateo in center field. Mateo will bat seventh against Cardinals right-hander Andre Pallante. Mullins will be out of the lineup for the third time in the last four games, which have all come against right-handed pitchers. It comes with the 30-year-old left-handed-hitting outfielder struggling at the plate in May with a .163 average (13-for-80) with four homers, four doubles, 11 RBI, two steals, six runs, three walks and 25 strikeouts in 21 games played. Mullins is hitting only .226 (40-for-177) on the year but has double-digit homers (10) and has swiped seven bags as the team's primary center fielder. Mateo has stolen 10 bases in 47 at-bats but has no homers and is currently hitting under .200.Source: MLB.com
Baltimore Orioles outfielder Adley Rutschman Missing Another Game
Adley Rutschman (head) is being held out again for Tuesday's contest versus the visiting St. Louis Cardinals at Camden Yards. Chadwick Tromp will catch right-hander Tomoyuki Sugano and will hit ninth against Cardinals right-hander Andre Pallante. Rutschman will miss his second straight game on Tuesday after taking a foul tip off his mask on Sunday and being pulled for precautionary reasons. It's unclear if the 27-year-old backstop is in the league's concussion protocol, but interim manager Tony Mansolino said he is scheduled to take batting practice on Tuesday, so it's possible he could be back in the starting lineup as soon as Wednesday. Consider Rutschman to be day-to-day for now. Tromp will be making his debut with the O's on Tuesday after going 0-for-5 at the plate with the Braves earlier this year. Avoid him as a sleeper in DFS.Source: MLB.com
Baltimore Orioles catcher Hunter Gaddis Back From Bereavement List
Hunter Gaddis from the bereavement list and optioned left-hander Joey Cantillo to Triple-A Columbus in a corresponding move. Gaddis will be available for Game 2 of the series in Cleveland against the visiting Los Angeles Dodgers after being away from the team for a few days for personal reasons. The 27-year-old former fifth-rounder in 2019 out of Georgia State doesn't have any saves but has been a key reliever for the Guardians, posting a stingy 0.86 ERA and 1.14 WHIP with 29 strikeouts and eight walks in 21 innings out of the bullpen in his fourth year in the big leagues. He's also recorded 13 holds, so fantasy managers in need of a bullpen arm that has been very effectively should look Gaddis' way. He had a 1.57 ERA and 0.76 WHIP last year with a career-high 66 K's in 74 2/3 innings.Source: GuardsInsider
The Cleveland Guardians announced on Tuesday that they activated right-hander Carlos Santana Back in Guardians Lineup
Carlos Santana (leg) is back at first base and is hitting fifth on Tuesday as the series continues against the visiting Los Angeles Dodgers and right-hander Dustin May at Progressive Field. Santana will return to the lineup after missing the last two games due to tightness in his left leg. The 39-year-old switch-hitting veteran will be looking to extend his modest hitting streak to seven games in his return against a pitcher he's never faced in his career in May. During his six-game hitting streak, the Dominican product has gone 8-for-21 (.381) with two home runs, two doubles, six RBI and six runs scored. Overall, Santana is slashing .235/.345/.371 with a .715 OPS, six home runs, five doubles, 27 RBI, 26 runs scored and two stolen bases in 49 games as the Guardians' primary first baseman.Source: MLB.com
Cleveland Guardians first baseman Arjun Nimmala Earns Northwest Player of the Week Honors
Arjun Nimmala had a strong six games last week, going 9-for-25 (.360) with a double, a triple, two home runs, six RBI, six runs scored, two steals, and a 4:3 BB:K. The effort earned him Northwest Player of the Week honors for High-A Vancouver. The 19-year-old is slashing .286/.368/.540 with nine home runs, and after a surge from the 78th-ranked prospect overall per MLB.com before the season began to 59th overall in their May refresh of the list, the right-handed slugger continues to reinforce that sentiment. Look for the Jays to see how he fares at Double-A later this year, however, he may still be a couple of years away from the majors.Source: MiLB.com
Toronto Blue Jays shortstop prospect Thomas White Will Return to Mound on Friday
Thomas White (finger) is expected to return to action on Friday to start for High-A Beloit. The Marlins' top prospect hasn't pitched since May 9 due to a blister on his finger, but appears to be fully recovered. The southpaw has made six starts at High-A so far this year, pitching to a 3.24 ERA, a 1.32 WHIP, and boasting a 34.3 percent strikeout rate. A high 14.8 percent walk rate needs to be remedied, but the 6-foot-5 hurler clearly has wipeout stuff and has an ETA of 2026 for a major league debut, according to MLB.com's top prospects list. For that timeline to hold, look for a promotion to Double-A after a couple more successful starts, and he'll warrant attention in dynasty leagues as MLB's 34th-ranked prospect overall.Source: MLB.com
Miami Marlins pitching prospect Seth Brown Sticks With A's
Seth Brown cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Las Vegas. Brown is no longer on the team's 40-man roster and will report to Vegas, but he remains in the organization after recently being designated for assignment. After a recent rough stretch as a team, the A's decided to cut Brown in favor of some of their deserving young prospects. The 32-year-old left-handed-hitting veteran had gone just 11-for-52 (.212) in the first third of the 2025 season for the A's with a home run, three RBI, six runs scored and one stolen base. If Brown makes it back to the big leagues this year, the former 19th-round selection in 2015 out of Lewis-Clark State College will strictly be a left-handed bat off the bench for the A's against right-handed pitching.Source: A's Communications
The Athletics announced on Tuesday that outfielder/first baseman Brett Baty Hitting Fifth on Tuesday
Brett Baty is making the start at second base and is batting fifth in the lineup for Tuesday's contest against the visiting Chicago White Sox and right-hander Jonathan Cannon. Baty has been one of the team's most productive hitters in the month of May, leading to his highest lineup positioning of the year. The 25-year-old former 12th overall pick in 2019 has gone hitless in the last two games but is 14-for-50 (.280) with five home runs, a double, 13 RBI, six runs scored and a stolen base in 17 games in the month of May to raise his season slash line up to .240/.275/.471 with a .746 OPS in 104 at-bats. It's nothing to write home about, but the post-hype prospect could finally be finding his groove offensively at the big-league level. Baty is worth a waiver-wire pickup if he's available in deep-mixed leagues and is an attractive DFS play on Tuesday as well.Source: MLB.com

A's Acquire Sean Newcomb From Red Sox
Sean Newcomb from the Boston Red Sox in exchange for cash considerations. In a corresponding move to clear space on the 40-man roster, the A's designated left-hander Matt Krook and right-hander Ryan Cusick for assignment. Also, outfielder/first baseman Seth Smith cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Las Vegas. Newcomb will head to the American League West after the Red Sox designated him for assignment over the weekend. The 31-year-old southpaw will return to the A's after making 14 appearances for them in 2023 and 2024. He had a 3.95 ERA, 1.76 WHIP and 41:17 K:BB in 41 innings over 12 outings (five starts) with Boston this year before being cut. With the A's, he'll likely serve in a long-relief role and as starting-rotation insurance.Source: A's Communications

Kyle Teel Earns International League Player of the Week Honors
Kyle Teel earned International League Player of the Week honors for his performance last week, going 8-for-16 with three home runs, six RBI, seven runs scored, and a 6:5 BB:K over a five-game stretch. After an underwhelming 14 games to open the season, the 23-year-old has now hit safely in 27 of his last 29 games and has gotten on base via hit or walk in 32 straight contests. Chicago's second-ranked prospect (MLB No. 28) is now slashing .293/.397/.490 with seven home runs through 43 games for Triple-A Charlotte. Expect the former first-round draft pick to earn a promotion to the big leagues in the coming months, who could be a solid offensive catcher for fantasy, depending on how the Sox divvy up playing time between him and fellow backstop Edgar Quero who has been hitting for average (.273) but with zero home runs in 99 at-bats and only a 101 wRC+.Source: MiLB.com
Chicago White Sox catching prospect Roman Anthony Not Slowing Down at Triple-A

Daniel Bard Drawing Significant Interest
Daniel Bard threw for around 10 MLB teams a week ago and is drawing significant interest, according to WEEI's Rob Bradford. Bard is particularly drawing attention from some Western division contenders in both the American and National League despite missing all of last year with an elbow injury. The 39-year-old veteran has apparently made a full recovery after having flexor-tendon surgery in April of 2024 on his right elbow. If Bard does latch on with an MLB team in 2025, he'd be unlikely to be in contention for save opportunities, especially if it's with a contending team. The former first-rounder (28th overall) by the Boston Red Sox in 2006 out of North Carolina has 66 career saves in nine major-league seasons. Bard had a 4.56 ERA, a 1.70 WHIP, one save, 47 strikeouts and 49 walks in 49 1/3 relief innings for the Colorado Rockies in 2023.Source: WEEI - Rob Bradford
