Boston Red Sox pitcher
Richard Fitts (biceps) was forced to make an early exit from Monday's start against the Baltimore Orioles. Fitts came out to pitch in the sixth inning, but exited after only one pitch. According to Tim Healey, Fitts is dealing with biceps tightness. That being said, fantasy managers should consider Fitts as day-to-day. Before exiting Fitts threw four innings, allowing three runs on two hits while striking out six batters. If Fitts misses time,
Kyle Harrison could be asked to take over the spot in the rotation. Fantasy managers will need to check back for another update on Fitts.

Detroit Tigers infielder
Colt Keith (illness) is serving as the designated hitter and is batting leadoff for the team's Monday series opener in Sacramento against the Athletics and right-hander
J.T. Ginn. Keith will return to the starting nine to begin the week after he was scratched from Sunday's lineup with an illness. He will not return to the field, but he'll be back in the batting order at Sutter Health Park. The 24-year-old has gone hitless in his last eight at-bats over his last four games at the plate, so he'll be looking to get back on track now that he's feeling better. Keith has one hit in just three career at-bats against Ginn and is slashing .261/.343/.425 on the season with 11 home runs, 39 RBI and 56 runs scored in 348 at-bats for Detroit. In 18 games in August, he's hitting a cool .304 (17-for-56) with three homers, four doubles, seven RBI and even his first stolen base of the year.

Pittsburgh Pirates outfielder
Oneil Cruz (concussion) is not returning from the seven-day concussion injured list on Monday for the series opener against the division-rival St. Louis Cardinals at Busch Stadium, according to interim manager
Don Kelly. The team is taking it day by day with Cruz, but Kelly said that the 26-year-old came out of his rehab assignment over the weekend with Double-A Altoona feeling good. Cruz had a locker in the clubhouse in St. Louis on Monday, so he should come off the IL and play in Tuesday's game.
Jack Suwinski is making another start in center field on Monday and will hit seventh against Cardinals right-hander
Michael McGreevy. Cruz is barely hitting over .200 on the year, but he's fantasy relevant in all leagues because of his power speed combination -- he has 18 bombs and a league-high 34 steals in 108 games.

Milwaukee Brewers outfielder
Jackson Chourio (hamstring) will require a few more games at Triple-A Nashville this week. The Brewers want to make sure Chourio is 100 percent healthy before activating him off the injured list. Chourio reportedly looked tentative while running the bases over the weekend. The Brewers don't have much of an incentive to bring him back up to the roster right now. It seems likely that Chourio will be ready to go by the weekend. Fantasy managers should continue to check back for updates throughout the week.

Tyler Anderson was placed on the paternity leave list on Monday. Anderson is currently scheduled to start on Wednesday, but that seems unlikely to happen. He should return later in the week, so possibly Anderson gets the ball this weekend. He hasn't been much of a fantasy option anyway with a 4.73 ERA across 25 starts this season. Zack Gelof was recalled from Triple-A Las Vegas on Monday. Gelof has spent most of the season injured, but appears to be finally healthy. He has been hitting well in the minors and is deserving of another shot at the big league level. Gelof struggled with a .211/.270./362 slash line with 188 strikeouts last season with the A's. However, Gelof showed some promise with 17 home runs and 25 steals in his 138 games. He figures to get regular playing time down the stretch of the season. In a corresponding move, infielder

Daylen Lile (illness) is absent from the starting lineup ahead of Monday's game against the New York Yankees. Nats' interim manager Miguel Cairo said Lile is sitting out this game due to an illness. The rookie outfielder is hopeful to get back in the lineup following this contest. Lile has been decent with the bat, slashing .263/.312/.396 with three home runs, 22 RBI, and seven steals in 63 games.

Anthony Volpe was given two games off as part of a reset, according to manager Aaron Boone. He continued by saying that Volpe will play regularly following Monday's contest. The Yankees still believe in Volpe as their long-term solution at shortstop. The 24-year-old has been inconsistent with the bat and struggled defensively this season. The New York Mets announced on Monday that they placed right-handed reliever
Reed Garrett (elbow) on the 15-day injured list (retroactive to Aug. 23) with right-ebow inflammation and selected left-hander
Jose Castillo's contract from the minors in a corresponding move. Right-hander
Frankie Montas (elbow) was also moved to the 60-day IL. Garrett's injury might help explain why he allowed eight runs in 4 2/3 relief innings over his last five outings out of the Mets' bullpen. The recent rough patch has moved the 32-year-old veteran's season ERA up to 3.61, while he also has a 1.22 WHIP, 62 strikeouts, 24 walks and three saves in 52 1/3 total innings pitched in his second year with the club. Castillo will step in as a new middle reliever for the Mets with Garrett out as they begin a crucial divisional series against the Philadelphia Phillies on Monday.

Philadelphia Phillies outfield prospect
Justin Crawford went 2-for-4 on Sunday for Triple-A Lehigh Valley, including a solo home run and two runs scored. The Phils' third-ranked prospect has hit well all season, batting .328 on the year, but has been even hotter lately, slashing .358/.411/.537 with four doubles, a triple, and two home runs over his last 17 games. The speedy former first-rounder also has eight steals during that time, giving him 42 steals in 105 games in 2025. There doesn't appear to be much more for the 21-year-old to prove at Triple-A, so an opportunity just needs to present itself with the big league club. It should happen within the next month, so fantasy managers should be ready to pounce, and we should see his skills on full display regularly next year.

Arizona Diamondbacks infield prospect
Jordan Lawlar went 3-for-5 with two RBI on Sunday at Triple-A Reno. Arizona's top-ranked prospect has hit well since coming off the injured list on August 14, a continuation of his hot hitting from earlier in the year. The 23-year-old is 11-for-36 (.306) in the eight games since his return, including two doubles, a triple, a home run, and two stolen bases. He was caught stealing on Sunday, too, but it appears he has full confidence in his hamstring. With
Eugenio Suarez out of the picture and
Blaze Alexander just 6-for-40 (.150) over his last 11 games, Lawlar could finally see some regular playing time with the big league club down the stretch if he gets the call. It seems there will always be injury concern for Lawlar, but the former first-rounder should still have 20/20 potential in 2026.

Chicago White Sox pitching prospect
Hagen Smith was tagged for four earned runs on four hits and five walks while striking out three in 3 2/3 innings of work for Double-A Birmingham on Sunday. It was the fifth time this season in 17 total starts that the southpaw walked at least four batters in an outing. Sometimes pitchers are working on new pitches, so it's hard to blame it all on his control, but the first half numbers looked far better than the second half. In his first eight starts (27 1/3 innings pitched), the lefty posted a 1.98 ERA, 1.21 WHIP, and a 21.2 percent K-BB%, however, over the last nine starts (35 1/3 IP), he's recorded a 5.35 ERA, 1.39 WHIP, and an 11.8 percent K-BB%. Hopefully Chicago's fifth-ranked prospect can end the season on a high note, which would put him in a position to see Triple-A next season and potentially make his major league debut.
