Miguel Cabrera Taking The Day Off
3 years agoDetroit Tigers designated hitter Miguel Cabrera is not in the starting lineup on Thursday against the Texas Rangers. The 38-year-old veteran is likely just taking a routine day to rest and get off his feet. Jonathan Schoop will serve as the DH and bat second, while Harold Castro is playing first base and batting sixth against Rangers right-hander Mike Foltynewicz. Cabrera has been a shell of his former MVP self, slashing just .236/.290/.337 with seven home runs and 39 RBI on the season. Schoop has been excellent all year and is in the midst of an 11-game hitting streak in which he's batting .378 (17-for-45) with a homer and 10 RBI. He'll surely be a popular daily pick Thursday. Castro has been great this month as well, going 14-for-30 (.467) with four RBI in nine games.
