Michael Lorenzen An Attractive Rental Option
1 year agoDetroit Tigers right-hander Michael Lorenzen, the team's lone All-Star representative this year, will be a free agent at the end of the year, making him an attractive rental candidate who can start during the regular season and potentially move to a relief role for the playoffs. Scouts that have been watching his teammate Eduardo Rodriguez have also stuck around to watch Lorenzen. Detroit is also said to be considering trades of at least one of their relievers, with right-hander Jason Foley drawing significant interest. Lorenzen just pitched in Game 1 of a doubleheader against the Los Angeles Angels on Thursday and was hit with his seventh loss of the year, allowing three earned runs on five hits while walking one and striking out seven in five innings to bump his ERA up to 3.58 on the season.
