The Leafs received a strong performance from their backup goalie and defeated the Islanders 3-0 on Saturday night. After going winless on the season until Dec. 21, Michael Hutchinson has now won his last three games. He’s allowed one goal or less in two of his last three games. Forward Mitch Marner had two helpers in the game and now has 40 points in 32 contests. Rookie Pierre Engvall scored for the second game in a row and now has five goals in his past eight games. After going without a point in three games, Zach Hyman found the back of the net on Saturday. He has 10 goals in 24 games. Auston Matthews added two points, including a goal, to break the 50-point mark on the season. He has eight points in his last four games.
