Mets, Angels Looking At J.D. Martinez
12 months agoThe New York Mets and Los Angeles Angels are eyeing top free-agent designated hitter J.D. Martinez this offseason. Martinez's old Arizona Diamondbacks team is also seeking a hitter this winter, although it's unclear if they'd be interested in a reunion. Veteran Justin Turner is another option that could be a fit with the Mets, Angels and D-backs. Martinez won't be returning to the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2024 after they signed two-way superstar Shohei Ohtani to a record-setting deal already this offseason. Although health is an issue for the 36-year-old right-handed slugger, Martinez remained productive at the plate in 2023 with the Dodgers, hitting .271 (117-for-432) with 33 home runs and 103 RBI in 113 games played while earning his sixth All-Star selection.
