Lucas Giolito To Make Guardians Debut Monday
1 year agoCleveland Guardians right-hander Lucas Giolito, who was claimed off waivers from the Los Angeles Angels on Thursday, will make his debut for Cleveland in the series opener on Monday against the division-rival Minnesota Twins. Giolito wasn't very good in his six starts for the Halos, surrendering 28 runs (25 earned) on 33 hits (10 home runs) while walking 15 and striking out 34 in 32 2/3 innings. The Guardians are hoping they're getting the version of Giolito when he was with the Chicago White Sox earlier this year, as he went 6-6 with the Pale Hose with a 3.79 ERA (4.44 FIP), 1.22 WHIP, 42 walks and 131 strikeouts in 121 innings over 21 starts. The move to the weak American League Central should be good news for the 29-year-old as he closes out his 2023 season.
