Lourdes Gurriel Jr. Returns To Friday's Action
1 year agoArizona Diamondbacks outfielder Lourdes Gurriel Jr. (hip) has returned to the starting lineup on Friday and is serving as the designated hitter and batting fifth in the order against San Diego Padres right-hander Seth Lugo. Gurriel missed the series opener in San Diego on Thursday after leaving Wednesday's game against the Colorado Rockies early with a bruised left hip. It wasn't a serious injury, though, and the 29-year-old will be available again for his fantasy managers. Gurriel will look to keep his bat hot on Friday, as he's gone 16-for-49 (.327) with four home runs, two doubles, seven RBI, two stolen bases and eight runs scored in 14 games (13 starts) so far in August. He made the All-Star team in his first year in Arizona and is currently batting .258 (106-for-411) with 19 home runs, 64 RBI, four steals and 49 runs in 108 games played. Gurriel is two long balls shy of matching his career-high 21 homers set in 2021 with Toronto.
