Lourdes Gurriel Dazzles In Debut
Teoscar Hernandez filled up the box score (and hasn’t dropped since). On Friday, they had another one with shortstop/second baseman Lourdes Gurriel. Gurriel finished 2-for-5 with three RBI and a strikeout in an 8-5 victory over the New York Yankees. Gurriel has been crushing it at Double-A this season, but he’s not a must-add right away. There are at least some indicators that what Gurriel was doing at Double-A was legitimate, but he was also vastly outperforming what he did in previous years boosted by a BABIP over .100 points higher than his career mark. Playing time could also be an issue here, as Toronto has a wealth of middle infielders. Keep an eye on him, though, as there’s undoubtedly a lot of talent here.
