Kyle Wright Activated and Optioned to Triple-A
Kyle Wright (shoulder) from the 15-day injured list and optioned him to Triple-A Omaha. Wright has recovered from right-shoulder surgery that he had in October of 2023, but he'll have to wait to appear in a big-league game for the first time since that same season. The 29-year-old wasn't exactly sharp in eight minor-league rehab starts, recording a 5.48 ERA and 1.56 WHIP with 21 strikeouts and 14 walks in 23 innings pitched at Omaha and Double-A Northwest Arkansas. The Royals will likely continue to stretch Wright out in a starting role in the minors to give them additional starting depth later in the season. Outside of a 21-win season for the Atlanta Braves in 2022, Wright has had little success and limited experience in his six big-league seasons.
