Ke'Bryan Hayes Hopes To Be Activated Soon
1 year agoPittsburgh Pirates third baseman Ke'Bryan Hayes (back) has returned to Pittsburgh from his minor-league rehab assignment and is hoping to be activated from the 10-day injured list on Tuesday night or Wednesday. Given all the Pirates trades in recent days, there should be regular playing time available for both Hayes and rookie infielder Jared Triolo, who has been playing regularly at third base with Hayes sidelined. Now in his fourth major-league season, Hayes has yet to really impress anyone with his offense. Through 75 games (307 trips to the plate) before his back injury, the 26-year-old was hitting an empty .252/.290/.393 with five home runs, 16 doubles, five triples, 32 RBI, nine stolen bases and 34 runs scored. He should return to everyday playing time, but he'll continue to be merely a corner-infield option in deep-mixed leagues.
