Jose Berrios Won't Come Cheap
3 years agoThe Minnesota Twins are seeking a prospect and big-leaguer combination package for starting pitcher Jose Berrios, which is described as a "shoot-the-moon" ask. They could lower their request as the trade deadline approaches next week, but for now, rival teams doubt the right-hander will be traded. Those in the Twins organization like the team's nucleus and don't want to "punt" on the 2022 season. Berrios has had a rough month of July, allowing 13 earned runs on 18 hits (four home runs) while walking nine and striking out 26 in four starts, but he's been very solid on the season as a whole. The 27-year-old Puerto Rican is 7-4 overall with a 3.69 ERA, 1.08 WHIP, 122 strikeouts and just 32 walks in 114 2/3 frames over his 19 starts. He'd be a bit more attractive pitching for a contender, but he'll remain plenty useful to fantasy managers in all leagues if he stays in Minnesota, too.
