Jordan Walker Resting Against Rays
1 year agoSt. Louis Cardinals rookie outfielder Jordan Walker is out of the lineup on Thursday against the Tampa Bay Rays. It's a normal day of rest for Walker. In his absence, Alec Burleson will make the start in right field and will bat sixth in the order against Rays right-hander Zack Littell. Walker got off to a scorching start early in his first big-league season before being demoted to the minors for a short stretch. Since returning on June 2, he's hit .255 (49-for-192) with eight home runs, eight doubles, 19 RBI, three stolen bases and 19 runs scored in 54 games (53 starts) for the Red Birds. The young outfielder has been worse since the All-Star break, going 17-for-81 (.210) with two homers, three doubles, five RBI, two steals and seven runs scored in 23 games (22 starts).
