Jordan Romano Could Be Back On A Mound On Wednesday
6 months agoToronto Blue Jays closer Jordan Romano (elbow) is long-tossing from 90 to 120 feet on Monday, and if all goes well with his throwing session, he could get back on a mound as early as this Wednesday. Romano has yet to throw off a mound again since landing on the 15-day injured list on June 1 with right-elbow inflammation. The 31-year-old right-handed closer has already been on the IL twice this year with arm injuries and hasn't been as effective when on the field for the Jays, posting a 6.59 ERA and 1.46 WHIP with eight saves and 13 strikeouts in 13 2/3 innings out of the bullpen. Romano will likely have to go on a minor-league rehab assignment before coming off the injured list, but it will probably be a short one. Keep Romano stashed, as he'll return to primary closing duties in Toronto when he's healthy. Chad Green is next up for saves this week for the Jays with Yimi Garcia dealing with an elbow injury of his own now.
