Jonathan Villar Could Return For Subway Series
3 years agoNew York Mets infielder Jonathan Villar (calf) is feeling much better and could return from the injured list for the Subway Series this weekend against the New York Yankees. Villar has been dealing with calf tightness, but he started a minor league rehab assignment this week and is ahead of J.D. Davis as far as a potential return to the club goes. The veteran infielder has responded with extra playing time and has slashed .246/.333/.410 with six home runs, 15 RBI and eight stolen bases in 183 at-bats, mostly at the hot corner. Villar is worth picking up in deep mixed and NL-only leagues, but his playing time is likely to dwindle when Davis returns to the fold. On top of that, the Mets are looking for an offensive upgrade at third base with the trade deadline approaching.
