Joe Ryan To Make Rehab Start Friday
1 year agoMinnesota Twins right-hander Joe Ryan (groin) will make a minor-league rehab start on Friday for Triple-A St. Paul. Ryan will probably only need one or two rehab starts on the farm before the Twins feel comfortable putting him back in their starting rotation. After all, he's been on the injured list for just over two weeks with a groin injury. At the earliest, the 27-year-old could return next week in a tough matchup against the Milwaukee Brewers. In 22 starts (126 innings) this year, Ryan has gone 9-8 with a 4.43 ERA (4.14 FIP), 1.13 WHIP, 25 walks and a career-high 152 strikeouts in his third big-league season. He struggled in three starts before going on the injured list, giving up 15 earned runs on 23 hits (eight homers) while walking four and fanning 21 in 13 2/3 frames.
