Jesse Winker Returns On Tuesday
6 months agoWashington Nationals outfielder Jesse Winker (knee) has returned to Tuesday's lineup against the visiting Arizona Diamondbacks and right-hander Slade Cecconi, playing in left field and batting third. Winker will return to the starting lineup for the first time since leaving Saturday's game early against the Miami Marlins with a right-knee injury that ended up not being very serious. The left-handed-hitting veteran has turned things around with the Nationals in 2024 and has hit a strong .386 (17-for-44) with seven RBI in 14 games in the month of June, but he has yet to record an extra-base hit and hasn't homered since May 20. Overall, he's batting .265/.378/.390 with six homers, 31 RBI and 11 stolen bases in 223 at-bats. Winker has never faced Cecconi in his career.
