Jaxon Smith-Njigba Impressing Early In Camp
1 year agoSeattle Seahawks first-round rookie wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba, who was taken 20th overall in this year's draft, was mostly a spectator in spring practices as he learned from afar. He missed all but 2 1/2 games last season at Ohio State due to a hamstring injury, and the Seahawks didn't want to rush him into the fold. Smith-Njigba was full-go for minicamp in June and showed his smooth, precise route-running. And the young wideout is already impressing in training camp. "He's so impressive," quarterback Geno Smith said. "Very smooth route-runner. Natural hands. Also, the game is not too big for him. You can see he's got that self-confidence that you look for." The 21-year-old has already apparently won the No. 3 job behind DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett, which was expected to happen eventually.
