Jan Blachowicz Drops Split Decision In Co-Main Event
1 year agoIn a closely contested light-heavyweight showdown on Saturday, Jan Blachowicz was on the wrong side of a split-decision announcement after his fight with Alex Pereira. The fight saw Blachowicz go to his grappling early, controlling Pereira for the majority of the first round, as well as threatening him with submissions. That action was reflected in the scorecards, with all three judges agreeing that Blachowicz won the first round, with Pereira winning the second round. In the third, Pereira scored more strikes on his feet as a tired Blachowicz moved forward. Blachowicz took Pereira down with about 40 seconds left in the fight, but it wasn't enough for the former UFC light-heavyweight champion to steal the round. In 15 minutes of action, Blachowicz landed 52 significant strikes.
