James Wood Could Make MLB Debut In 2024
11 months agoWashington Nationals outfield prospect James Wood could make his major-league debut for the team in 2024. Wood is listed as the No. 14 overall prospect in baseball by MLB Pipeline. The Nationals acquired Wood in the Juan Soto trade back in 2022, and he's one of the top overall outfield prospects in the game after hitting a combined .262/.353/.520 with an .874 OPS, 26 home runs, 28 doubles, eight triples, 91 RBI, 18 stolen bases and 80 runs scored in 129 games with High-A Wilmington and Double-A Harrisburg in 2023. He's only 21 years old and will most likely begin the 2024 campaign at Triple-A, but if Wood continues to excel in the minors, the rebuilding Nats may have no choice but to call him up to the big leagues sooner than later. General manager Mike Rizzo said, "We're not going to block guy." Wood's prodigious power and speed combo make him a stash candidate in single-year fantasy leagues.
