MacKenzie Gore Placed on 15-Day Injured List
MacKenzie Gore (shoulder) on the 15-day injured list with shoulder inflammation. The team made the move retroactive to Aug. 27 and recalled righty Mason Thompson from Triple-A Rochester to take Gore's roster spot. Although the last-place Nationals are about to enter the final month of their season, Gore implied that he expects to return in 2025, saying an MRI of his shoulder didn't reveal anything "crazy," according to Mark Zuckerman of MASNsports.com. The 26-year-old earned an All-Star nod thanks to a strong first half (3.02 ERA), but his performance has fallen off drastically over the past month and a half. Gore has given up six or more runs in three of eight outings since the All-Star break and has picked up just two quality starts in that span. Over 147 1/3 innings this season, Gore has gone 5-13 with a 4.15 ERA, a 1.34 WHIP, and 173:55 K:BB.
