James Paxton Leaves Early With Injury Friday
2 years agoBoston Red Sox left-hander James Paxton (leg) left his Grapefruit League outing on Friday against the Minnesota Twins with two outs in the second inning and was seen flexing his leg. The good news is that the injury didn't appear to be serious, as he walked through the dugout and was giving teammates fist bumps. This isn't what you want to see from one of the most injured pitchers over the last few seasons, but his exit from the game looked to be precautionary. The 34-year-old veteran southpaw is expected to be a staple in Boston's starting rotation in 2023 if he can stay healthy. Fantasy managers shouldn't expect much, though, as Paxton missed all of 2022 due to Tommy John surgery, and he's tossed just 21 2/3 innings over six starts in the last three years.
