Nolan Jones Heads to 10-Day Injured List
Nolan Jones (oblique) on the 10-day injured list with a strained right oblique and promoted outfielder Petey Halpin from Triple-A Columbus. Jones came off the bench in the Guardians' 6-2 win over the Minnesota Twins on Friday and had to exit after he began feeling discomfort in his side while swinging. The injury will end Jones' regular season, though he may be able to return in October if the Guardians improbably earn a playoff berth. They've won eight in a row to charge within 1 1/2 games of a wild-card spot and 2 1/2 of the AL Central-leading Detroit Tigers. Jones played in 136 of the Guardians' games this season and hit a lackluster .211/.296/.304 with five homers, 34 RBI, 34 runs scored, and eight stolen bases in 403 plate appearances.
