James Paxton Healthy This Spring
2 years agoBoston Red Sox left-hander James Paxton (lat) is entering spring training this year healthy, as opposed to last year. Paxton didn't pitch at all in 2022 while rehabbing from Tommy John surgery, but he also suffered a Grade 2 left lat strain in August. But with no restrictions with pitchers and catchers reporting to camp this week, the 34-year-old veteran southpaw should be ready for the start of the 2023 regular season in Boston's starting rotation. Paxton has plenty of strikeout upside when healthy (9.9 career K/9), but he's made only six starts (21 2/3 innings) since the 2020 season, so his workload will likely be monitored throughout the season.
