Jakub Vrana Clears Waivers
2 years agoDetroit Red Wings left wing Jakub Vrana cleared waivers on Wednesday after the team waived him on Tuesday. The 26-year-old has missed all but two games this season and entered the NHL/NHLPA's player assistance program on Oct. 19. He was reinstated on Dec. 16 and has been on a conditioning stint in the AHL, but it looks like he will now remain there for a while, with the team having assigned him to the minors after he cleared waivers. Various issues have limited Vrana to just 39 appearances for the Red Wings since he arrived from Washington in April 2021. It appears that he doesn't have a future in Motown anymore, although Vrana still has a year remaining on his contract. It won't be easy to move him either, with Vrana having a 5,250,000 cap hit, and it's pretty telling that teams passed on him when Vrana was available for free.
