J.D. Martinez Doesn't Receive Qualifying Offer From Dodgers
1 year agoThe Los Angeles Dodgers did not extend a $20.325 million qualifying offer to designated hitter J.D. Martinez, according to a source. It means that the Dodgers won't receive draft-pick compensation if Martinez signs elsewhere in free agency. The Dodgers need to keep the DH spot clear for now given their interest in free-agent two-way superstar Shohei Ohtani. Martinez is 36 years old and is a full-time DH at this point in his career, but he should still attract plenty of interest on the open market this offseason after rebounding in 2023 with the Dodgers to the tune of a .271/.321/.572 slash line, .893 OPS, 33 home runs, 27 doubles, two triples, 103 RBI and 61 runs scored in 113 games. The six-time All-Star slugger derived a lot of his fantasy value from being in the middle of a loaded Dodgers lineup, but he still is a high-end power and run-producing target in fantasy.
