Indians Won't Trade Jose Ramirez Unless They're Overwhelmed
3 years agoThe Cleveland Indians will not trade third baseman Jose Ramirez at this year's deadline unless they are overwhelmed by an offer. The Tampa Bay Rays are among the teams that would love to find out what it might take to pry Ramirez away. Ramirez ranks third in fWAR behind only Mike Trout and Mookie Betts since 2017 and is making $9.4 million in 2021. His team options of $11 million and $13 million over the next two years, respectively, are also well below market. Ramirez is under team control until his age-31 season, so he could be open to an extension, and the Tribe could contend during his final two seasons under club control. J-Ram, who is hitting .257/.342/.510 with 19 home runs, 52 RBI and eight stolen bases, would be more attractive from a fantasy standpoint on a contender like the Rays, but it sounds like he may not be going anywhere.
