Hunter Greene Brings The Heat In Double-A Win
4 years agoCincinnati Reds right-hander Hunter Greene, the team's No. 2 prospect per MLB Pipeline, threw 37 of his 71 total pitches over 100 mph in his first start for Double-A Chattanooga on Tuesday. The second overall pick of the 2017 draft topped out at 102 mph in the outing. Greene gave up one run and three hits while striking out eight in five strong innings to outduel Reid Detmers, the Los Angeles Angels' No. 2 prospect, for his first Double-A win. The 21-year-old threw 51 of his 71 pitches for strikes and didn't walk a single batter. Greene hadn't pitched in a game since July of 2018 after missing all of the 2019 season due to Tommy John surgery. After missing all of the last two seasons, Greene isn't expected to make his MLB debut in 2021, but he's still worth considering as a stash in dynasty leagues for his elite upside.
