Guardians Trade For Kyle Manzardo On Monday
1 year agoThe Cleveland Guardians acquired first base prospect Kyle Manzardo (shoulder) from the Tampa Bay Rays on Monday in exchange for right-hander Aaron Civale. Manzardo immediately becomes the Guardians' No. 3 prospect, per MLB Pipeline. The 23-year-old has been on the seven-day injured list in the minors since July 6 with a sore left shoulder, but the acquisition for Cleveland is a big haul for a pitcher in Civale that is at the peak of his value. Manzardo should be able to play again soon and is likely to report to Triple-A Columbus after he hit .238 (63-for-265) with 11 home runs, 19 doubles, a triple, 38 RBI and 33 runs scored in 73 games for Triple-A Durham. The young left-handed hitter could end up making his big-league debut in Cleveland later this year, and he has the ability to hit for a high average at the first base position.
