1 year agoNew York Yankees second baseman Gleyber Torres (back) was scratched from Friday's starting lineup against the Houston Astros with a back issue. With Torres now out, Oswald Peraza will move to second base and bat ninth, with Isiah Kiner-Falefa playing third base and hitting sixth against Astros right-hander Justin Verlander. Until we know more about Torres' back injury, fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day heading into the rest of the weekend. Check back on Saturday for an update on his condition. The 26-year-old Venezuelan is having a strong year in the Bronx in 2023, slashing .270/.339/.459 with 23 home runs, 57 RBI, 13 stolen bases and 74 runs scored in 503 at-bats. He finished the month of August hitting .327 (35-for-107) with seven long balls, eight doubles, 13 RBI, five stolen bases and 17 runs scored in 28 starts.
