Franchise Tag Likely For Daniel Jones?
2 years agoNew York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones has switched agents from CAA to Athletes First, according to a source with knowledge of the situation. A source believes Jones wants more than CAA was able to get and more than the Giants have offered, possibly as much as $45 million per year or more. New York could respond by using the franchise tag on Jones. The non-exclusive level would come $32.416 million, and at this point it's likely what the Giants will do. If another team wants to sign Jones for more in free agency, they'd also have to give up two first-round picks. If Jones wants a long-term commitment worth $42.4 million or more per year, it makes sense for the Giants to franchise tag him for 2023. The 25-year-old had his best year in 2022, although his numbers (3,025 passing yards and 15 touchdowns) don't look all that great on paper for fantasy. Jones also added a career-high 708 rushing yards and seven touchdowns.
