Fernando Tatis Jr. Feeling Better, Could Be Available Off The Bench
1 year agoSan Diego Padres manager Bob Melvin said that outfielder Fernando Tatis Jr. (ankle) is feeling better than expected on Sunday and could be available off the bench in the series finale against the Philadelphia Phillies. However, the Padres will likely err on the side of caution and keep Tatis out in rainy weather in Philadelphia. With Tatis out, Brandon Dixon is starting in right field and batting eighth against Phillies right-hander Zack Wheeler. With San Diego off on Monday, hopefully the 24-year-old Tatis will return to the lineup for the start of a series on Tuesday against the Toronto Blue Jays. Tatis has been one of the team's most consistent producers all year and is hitting a strong .283/.341/.521 with an .862 OPS, 17 long balls, 47 RBI, 14 stolen bases and 53 runs scored in 307 at-bats.
