Devonta Freeman 2020 Outlook: Former 1,000-Yard Back Still Looking For A Home
5 years agoThe Falcons released Devonta Freeman after six seasons, two Pro Bowl nods and two 1,000-yard rushing seasons in 2015 and 2016. The fourth-round pick in 2014 is still on the right side of 30 (turned 28 in March), but he has a lot of tread on his tires (951 career carries) and hasn't played a full season since 2016 because of injuries. As a result, he's found a very cold market in free agency and hasn't been happy with his offers to this point. There have been rumors that he could hang up his cleats if he doesn't get an offer to his liking. Freeman averaged a career-low 3.6 yards per carry on 184 totes for 656 yards and just two rushing TDs in 14 games last season. He saved some of his fantasy value with 59 catches for 410 yards and four scores. If Freeman does end up signing somewhere, he'll be a veteran early down backup and goal-line option between the tackles, which would obviously limit his fantasy value considerably.
