DeVante Parker Could Become A Cap Casualty
1 year agoNew England Patriots wide receiver DeVante Parker had two of the best catches during mandatory minicamp this offseason, but he could become a salary cap casualty if the team ends up signing free-agent receiver DeAndre Hopkins. Parker has no guaranteed money remaining on his contract, and the Patriots would save more than $6.2 million against this year's salary cap by cutting him while incurring no dead money. The 30-year-old former first-rounder had a 1,000-yard season in 2019 with the Miami Dolphins, but he's struggled to do much since then, and he caught 31 of 47 targets for 539 yards and three TDs in 13 games in his first year with the Pats in 2022. He remains the team's best contested-catch playmaker and he could have a better year in a new offensive scheme, but fantasy managers will want to see more consistency before taking a chance on him.
