DeVante Parker 2018 Outlook: Underachieving Prospect Still Overrated
6 years agoDevante Parker is extremely athletic. He's got 4.45 speed with high end burst. He was dominant in college. He projected to be an A.J. Green level WR. Unfortunately, it never materialized. Parker, with all his athleticism, plays scared and plays soft. He shies away from contact and is afraid to go over the middle. Sure, he's capable of the highlight reel play here and there. Again, he's very athletic. But can we please stop with "this is the year" every year? It will never be the year. At what point does the on field product supersede the collegiate performance and athletic profile?
Parker has played in 43 professional games and has 139 receptions and eight touchdowns to show for it. Last year, he posted a target separation of 1.05 yards, 98th in the league. His supporters will point to all of the vacated targets stemming from the departure of Jarvis Landry. Parker certainly has every opportunity to grab the bull by the horns. However, we are done advocating owners to waste a mid-round draft pick hoping it will happen. There are better players to target in the eighth round.
