Davis Schneider Debuting At Second Base For Toronto
1 year agoToronto Blue Jays rookie infielder Davis Schneider will make his major-league debut on Friday against the Boston Red Sox and left-hander James Paxton after being called up from Triple-A Buffalo earlier in the day. Schneider is starting at second base and batting seventh in the order. Whit Merrifield is being moved to left field for this one. Schneider hit .275 (85-for-309) with 21 home runs, 64 RBI and nine stolen bases in 87 games for Buffalo this year to get the call to the Show. The 24-year-old is making the start on Friday and can fill in at second and third base, but he may only see occasional time for the Jays as a utility infielder for as long as he remains in the big leagues.
