Clayton Tune Could Temporarily Serve As The Starter
1 year agoIf the Arizona Cardinals take their time and slow play quarterbacks Kyler Murray (knee) and Colt McCoy (elbow), as expected, rookie fifth-rounder Clayton Tune could have an opportunity to start early in the 2023 season. "He's a better athlete than Brock Purdy," former NFL QB Chris Simms said. Tune is not only behind Murray and McCoy, but is also most likely behind David Blough and Jeff Driskel on Arizona's QB depth chart. But head coach Jonathan Gannon and offensive coordinator Drew Petzing could make it an open competition under center until Murray returns. Tune completed 67.8% of his 916 attempts for 7,618 yards and 70 TDs in his final two years in college, and he also had 416 carries for 1,248 yards and 15 TDs on the ground.
