Chris Sale To Face Hitters Next Week
2 years agoBoston Red Sox starting pitcher Chris Sale (wrist) threw his second bullpen session of spring training on Saturday and seemed happy with the outing. He is scheduled to face hitters for the first time next week and remains in play to be ready to go for Opening Day, barring any setbacks with his surgically repaired right wrist. But given the 33-year-old southpaw's lengthy injury history, fantasy managers shouldn't be surprised if the Red Sox play it safe with Sale early in the year. Regardless of whether he's able to stay healthy all year, Sale's fantasy upside will be capped with an innings limit. He's only thrown 48 1/3 innings since 2021. The good news is that he didn't actually deal with an arm injury in 2022, so there remains hope that he can bounce back to his dominant All-Star form for Boston this year.
